Peter M. Delach

Lewistown - Peter M. Delach, 72, of Lewistown, formerly of Saint David, passed away peacefully to the Lord our Savior on September 29, 2022 with his beloved five children by his side.

The proud son of a Saint David Buckheart coal miner, Peter was a man that wore many hats. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, appliance repairman, steel worker and played many instruments. His love of music led him to play the guitar, organ, harmonica, and even an accordion, until an accident at work left him permanently disabled in 1983. However, he took on new roles; sharing his love of the Cubbies and Bears, music via albums and records, nature programs, and supporting Native American Foundations and Reservations.
Surviving are his beloved children, Angela (Darren Holloway) Delach, Pamela Tim) Downs, Emily (Jason Coulter) Schaeffer, Peter S. (Charity) Delach and Michael J. Delach, grandchildren; Brittanee, Micah, Stephen, Hannah, Devin, Ellianna, Jacob, Nora and AJ and great-grandson Levi Carl, whom are his greatest blessings.
He was a wonderful brother to Patty (Steve) Maher, Kathy Zawadzski and Phyllis (Mike) McMullen. He was thankful for his lifelong friend, Stephanie (Bob) Wright and his amazing caregivers/friends; Chrissy, Sheila, Sarah, Jessica and Haley.
He is proceeded in death by his father Peter J. Delach, mother, Betty L. Taylor, sisters Phyllis Irene and Patty Maher, and special family friend, Shelly Harrison.
Peter was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. David, where he served many years as an alter boy; happily drinking the wine.
Per Peter's wishes, there will not be a visitation. A private funeral service with immediate family will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. It was Peter's wish that any memorials be made to Fulton County Rehabilitation Center. To leave online condolences, please visit www.oakshinesfuneralhome.com.
