Dennis R. "Denny" Sprague, 75, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.He was born on March 30, 1947 in Canton to Dayton and Drusilla (Lingenfelter) Sprague. They preceded him in death.
He married Kristal Lybarger on August 20, 1982 in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Jim (Bethany) Sprague of Hobart Australia, Laura Sprague of Galesburg, James "Mike" (Gail) Belless of Abingdon, Heather (James) Groutage of Avon, three brothers, Durand Sprague of Canton, Duane Sprague of Canton, Daniel (Barbara) Sprague of Banner, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren with one on the way. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He served in the U.S. Army and was the youngest Spec 5 at the time of his discharge. He was a member of the 1st Church of the Nazarene, the VFW and American Legion all of Galesburg. He and his wife were avid bowlers and enjoyed riding motorcycles together. He had an uncanny memory regarding makes and models of cars.
Denny worked at Keystone Steel and Wire and later for International Harvester in Canton. He lastly worked for Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg retiring in 2009.
Dennis strongly believed his faith carried him through his fight with cancer.
A funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 1pm at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton with a visitation one hour prior at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at the White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
