Donna R. Mercer

Donna R. Mercer, 77, of Chillicothe, IL, passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Sunset Manor in Canton.

Donna was born in Peoria on November 2, 1944, to Raymond and Florence Watkins. Her parents and her sister, Charlene DeBoer preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Daniel (Darlene) Mercer of La Salle, IL, Susan (John) Poff of Dubuque, IA and Eric Mercer (Jennifer Bridgewater) of Spring Valley, IL. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Amanda Tippett, Renee Poff and Kaleigh & Grant Mercer, and three great-grandchildren, Jude, Harrison and Everett Wyant.
Donna graduated from Peoria Central High School in 1962. She was married to Michael Mercer from 1966-1993. In addition to caring for her children and grandchildren, Donna was a talented artist and a member of the Peoria Art Guild. Over the years, she worked at the Journal Star, the Hickory Stick and Traders Realty. In her spare time, Donna enjoyed walking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life is scheduled at Pearce Community Center in Chillicothe at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2022.
