Everett M. "Max" Smith, Sr.

Everett M. “Max” Smith, Sr., 77, of Kilbourne passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 10, 2022 at 9:35 p.m. He was born on January 28, 1945 in Mason County to Ira and Mary (Burrell) Smith.

Max is survived by his children, Everett M. “J.R.” (Daphne) Smith, Jr of Bath and Maxette (Ed) Ratcliff of Bluffs, Illinois; grandchildren, Sara, Matt, Quentin, Trey, Bryce, and MacKenzie; and great-grandchildren Faith and Brock. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Tricia Smith, and sister.
Max worked for the Mason County Service Company for 38 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW Post #6408 and American Legion Post #138. He was also a deacon at Kilbourne Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing on Grand Island and spending time with his family.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery outside of Bath. Rev. Abraham Mogerman will officiate. Military rites will be provided by VFW Post #6408 and American Legion Post #138.
