How do you write an obituary for the greatest woman that ever lived? You try but fail. Your brain spins as you attempt to pick out the most significant pieces of one's life that you want shared. We can't do that with our mom. Her entire life was significant.
On Thursday, December 16, 2021, Carolyn Danner was reunited with her first born daughter, Brandi Danner in Heaven. She was 61 years old.
Carol was born on March 27, 1960 in Springfield, MO. She graduated Rushville High School in 1978. She spent many years in healthcare, working with the elderly where she made their needs and wants a priority. The last few years she provided home care to a few elderly people and made them her family.
She married Donnie Danner in 1979 and had four girls: Brandi, Bobbi, Crystal, and Carrie. She loved her girls, but Grandma was her most treasured title. She enjoyed rooting on Lexi as a coach, listening to Jaxson talk about his truck, yell at Hunter on the football field, cheer on Chloe at her volleyball game, see Landon race motocross, watch Laney on the Basketball court, scream at Kredon play football, and creating bead jewelry with Boston.
Holidays were her favorite because it meant that we would all be together. She was a woman that faced many trials but overcame them every time. She was tired. Her strength and love was indescribable and so admired.
Carol is survived by her three daughters and son-in-laws, Bobbie and Klay Batterton of Astoria, Crystal and Seth Van Pelt of Table Grove, IL, and Carrie and Travis Fields of Havana, IL, 9 grandchildren, Lexi Danner-Clark, Jaxson McCombs, Hunter Nichols, Chloe Van Pelt, Landon McCombs, Laney Fields, Kredon Batterton, Boston Batterton, and Cali Coufal, and her siblings, Marilyn Bryant, Elaine (and Steve) Davenport, Verne (and Peggy) Bryant, Lori (and Greg) Peck, and Joan Bogan, all of Oklahoma City, OK.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Brandi Danner, both parents Verne Hunter and Carrie Bryant, and her in-laws, Janie and Leon Danner.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Ben Murray will be officiating. A visitation will take place before the service on Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Astoria Rescue Squad.
