Edith E. Richards

 

 

Farmington – Edith E. Richards, 93, of Farmington, passed away at 7:10 AM on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Farmington Country Manor. She was born on March 23, 1928 in Eden, IL to Clarence and Clara “Birdie” (McMeen) McAlister. She married James E. Richards on December 21, 1946 in Hanna City, IL. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2017.

Edith was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Everett McAlister; and three sisters, Eleanor Zessin, Pearl Roberson, and Zella Schoaf.

Surviving are four children, Michael (Raelynn) Richards of Jefferson City MO, Ronald (Deb) Richards of Pekin, IL, William (Beth) Richards of Canton, IL and Janet Jordan of Peoria, IL; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Isabell of Farmington, IL.

Edith worked as a secretary for the Hopwood Insurance Company for 8 years in Peoria, IL. She was a member of the Hanna City United Methodist Church. Edith was a devoted and loving mother and wife. She loved to travel with Jim, play cards and games with her friends and family. She will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at 12 PM noon on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL where a visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM noon. Pastor Bob DeBolt will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in rural Trivoli, IL. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
