Wanda L. Miller
Wanda L. Miller, 99, of Havana, IL, passed away at 8:23 pm on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Havana Health Care Center. She was born on June 22, 1918 in Sheldons Grove, IL, the daughter of Pete and Lula Maye (Curless) Hamm. Wanda married Fred Miller on November 22, 1943 in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1984.
Also preceding her in death was her son, Tim Miller, her daughter, Joyce Korth, 5 brothers, Marshall, Dallas, J.C., Dale, and Virgil Hamm and her sister Glenna Hursch.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Richard (and Connie) Miller of Rushville, IL and Pete (and Pam) Miller of Lewistown, IL, 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and her brother, Pete (and Lois) Hamm, Jr. of Browning, IL.
Wanda was a homemaker. She lived at and enjoyed overlooking Anderson Lake before making her home with her daughter, Joyce, in Bath in 2000. She was an avid bowler. She bowled in Pro-Ams all over the country and was inducted into the Illinois Bowling Hall of Fame. She was also inducted into the Havana Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1982. At age 82, she finally retired her bowling ball.
Wanda traveled to Las Vegas several times. She attended many Miller reunions and was known for her cooking and homemade noodles.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Sheldons Grove Cemetery. Pastor Wayne Curless will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Hickory-Kerton Fire Department.
