Beulah “Gram” Maxine White

Canton – Beulah “Gram” Maxine White went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon August 15th at her home with her loved ones near.

She was born on December 24, 1929 in Russell Springs, Kentucky to Charles and Flonnie (Huckaby) Griggs. Her mom always said she was the best Christmas present she ever had!

Beulah is survived by her husband of 67 years Earl D. White Jr. They were married July 15, 1950.

Also surviving are three daughters, Dianne J. Lowe, Linda (Jim) White, Susan (late Bob Curry) White; six grandchildren, Michael D. (Michele) Lowe, Amy D. (Mark) Lowry, Josh D. (Kethra) Lowe, Becki S. (Tom) Bass, Bobbi (Ken) Herz, Ben (Holly) White; eighteen great-grandchildren, Adian, Casey, and Ryan Lowe, Anthony (Jen) Mahr, Jessica (Kyle) Jansen, Katie (Dan) Dallefeld, Elizabeth and Jack Lowry, Grayson and Dawson Lowe, Nate and Sam Bass, Parker, Jackson, and Lauren Herz, Nolan, Ava, and Griffin White; four great-great-grandchildren, Glenn Smith, A.J. and Caleb Mahr, and Baby Girl Dallefeld.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Charles and Flonnie Griggs; her brothers, Ted and Bob Griggs; sister, Bonnie Mulligan; one granddaughter, Susan L. Mahr; and three great-grandchildren, Amber and Kari Mahr, and Sophie Lowry.

Beulah was working as a waitress at the Derby when she met Jr. She also worked at Farm King. Beulah was the Nursery Teacher at Temple Baptist Church for many years, she loved doing puzzles and going to yard sales. They enjoyed their many years of vacationing in Minnesota and visiting family in Texas and Kentucky. She loved sewing dresses and pajamas for her girls and granddaughters. Beulah was a bit famous for her fish frying skills and homemade noodle making. She was a great cook and was always making enough to share, especially her famous potato soup, vegetable soup, and ham and beans. Gram spent many hours rocking all of our babies.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Scot Shelburne will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford, IL. Memorials can be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
