Diantha Skender

Canton – Diantha F. Skender, 90, of Canton passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
She was born August 31, 1925, in Liverpool to Otis and Diantha C. “Carrie” (Estes) Whitehead.  She married Billie L. Skender on March 27, 1948, in Canton.  He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Kurt (Tina) Skender of Canton; three grandchildren, Randi Bump, Derek (Terri) Skender, and Alex (Leah) Skender; five great-grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Alyssa, Richard, and Victoria; and three great-great-grandchildren, Aiden, Zachary, and Elliana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Pauline Essex, Lucy Tennell, and Ina Rumler; and one brother, Glen Whitehead.
Diantha retired from Fulton County Rehabilitation Center (FCRC) in 1988, where she had worked for 18 years as a vocational instructor and supervisor over production.  She had formerly worked at the Post Exchange at Camp Ellis in Ipava and for Lidwell Jewelry in Canton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to FCRC, Disabled American Veterans, or to the Canton VFW Post #1984.
