Canton – Charles L. Swise, 75, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Richard Owens Home in Peoria.
He was born on July 21, 1940 in Avon to Elzie L. and Naomi H. (Benson) Swise. They preceded him in death.
He married Doris N. Jackson McCann on May 2, 1980 in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Jeff (Donna) McCann of Yelm, WA, Kathy (Ron) Utsinger of Ellisville, Sandy (Mike) Bergstralh of Canton, brother Ralph “Butch” (Susan) Swise of Fiatt, sister, Charlotte Roberts of Florida, grandchildren, Katie, Ricky and Haily McCann, Courtney and Christopher Utsinger, Brennan and McKenna Bergstalh and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He graduated from Spoon River Valley in 1958 and later served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963. He later owned and operated Residential Services and later was a carpenter for Western Illinois University retiring in 2003.
He was a member of the Fairview American Legion and enjoyed camping and fishing with his grandkid and kids.
Charles was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. A funeral will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 11 am at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at the Fiatt Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Fairview and Cuba Fire Departments.
