Richard “Dick” Sale
Canton – Richard K. “Corky” Sale, 87, of Canton died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, in Canton.
He was born April 6, 1928, in Louisville, KY to Cawein William and Bertha (Siders) Sale. He married Edna (Umland) Lippert on December 27, 1976, in St. David. She survives.
Also surviving are six children, John (Gail) Sale of Canton, Diane (Brent) Rader of Canton, Sherry Bundy of Canton, Tina (Steve Yerbic) Hooker of Canton, Richard W. Sale of Canton, and Dea (Jack) Whitehead of AL; three step-children, Patricia (Bob) Fender of Danville, Judith K. (the late Michael) Pelszynski of Georgetown, and Stanley A. Lippert of MO; one brother, Edward (Jean) Sale of Canton; one sister, Glenna Scalf of Pekin; sixteen grandchildren, Jesse (Kasie) Ireland, Jason (Heather) Ireland, Jessica (Tony) Traid, Jenise (Chris) Jones, Jordan (Kelly) Sale, Janna (Derick) Kaminski, Jameson Sale, Jonathon Sale, Tracie Lowder, Craig Bishop, Karras (Julie) Bishop, Karrie (Derick) Hahn, Ashley (Kevin Connolly) Hooker, Gabrielle Whitehead, Daniel Johnson, and Molly (Aaron) Sanford; seven step-grandchildren, Patty, Leo, Michael, Tiffany, Skyler, Stacey, and Matt; thirty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Clifford Campbell; three brothers, William, Weston, and Tracy; two grandchildren, Joyclyn Sale and Kayla Hooker; and one step-grandchild, Charles.
Dick worked for International Harvester, retiring after 30 years. He was a longtime “backyard mechanic” and operated Dick’s Repair Shop for many years. Dick, who was known to his grandchildren as Poppy Cork, enjoyed fishing in his younger days and was known to keep a pretty watchful eye on the neighborhood.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
