Canton – Gilbert L. Krock, 83, of
Canton, died at 12:40 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at Graham Hospital in
Canton.
He was born on May 4, 1932 in
Canton to James R. “Bud” and Winifred H. (Williamson) Krock.
He married Margaret E. Phillips
in Canton on December 19, 1954. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2007.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and son Jonathan.
Surviving are two sons Dr. Jeremy
“Jamie” (Jeanette) Krock of Peoria and Kenneth (Joann) Krock of Canton, six
grandchildren; Mitchell, Spencer, Timothy, Abigail, Elizabeth and Benjamin, and
one brother Curtis (Leta) Krock of Canton.
A grateful family would also like
to acknowledge his caregiver Becky Black. Her care enabled him to remain in his
home during his later years.
Gilbert was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Canton and volunteered in their food pantry program. He was a
member of Morning Star Lodge #734 AF&AM and active in the Graham Hospital
Service League. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife Margaret.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran,
serving as a control tower operator in Korea and Japan during the Korean War.
He participated in the 2014 Greater Peoria Area Honor Flight with his sons.
Funeral services will be held at
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 25 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where
visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Burial with military honors will
be at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
Memorials may be made to the
First Baptist Church of Canton or the Myelodysplastic Syndromes Foundation.
