John Dowell

Pekin – John Lee Dowell, 79, of Pekin, formerly of Banner, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at OSF St. Francis in Peoria.
He was born in Canton on August 17, 1936 to Merle E. and Bertie B. (Probyn) Dowell.
He married Bonnie Spilker at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana on November 3, 1963. She survives.
Other survivors include his son John Todd Dowell of Pekin, one brother Merle J. “Junior” (Darlene) Dowell of Canton, and two sisters Marjorie (John “Tike”) Sawyer of Urbana, Ohio and Vicki ((Steve) Warren of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jack Dowell.AC
John retired from Witco Chemical Co. in Mapleton. He was a fan of all sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks Hockey, he also loved fishing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 20 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior.
Burial will be at Walnut Cemetery in Banner.
Memorials may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
