Canton – Henry J. Banko, 96, of Canton, died at 1:00 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at Independence Village in Peoria.
He was born in Canton on August 6, 1918 to Paul and Mary (Gadowski) Banko.
He married Lida M. Myers in Bowling Green, MO on July 18, 1942. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons David A. Banko of Peoria and Darren L. (Angela) Banko of Muscatine, IA, four grandchildren David, Ryan, Timothy, and Jonathan, one step-grandson Christopher, and two great-grandchildren Malyk and Hadley.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Hank worked for International Harvester Co. for 42 years in welding and machine repair, retiring in 1982. He then worked in maintenance for Ludlum Apartments for 23 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton.
He was a World War II Army veteran, and a member of the American Legion Post # 16 in Canton.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
