Lewistown- Doris J. Chipman, age 87, of Lewistown passed away at 9:38 PM Tuesday March 31, 2015 at the Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba to be with her lord and savior.
She was born June 4, 1927 at Canton the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Perry) Means. She married Ray P. Chipman on October 26, 1946 at Macomb. He died November 1, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert Means, and George “Ribby” Means. Surviving are two daughters, Millie Shafer of Canton, and Laura (Jim) Hardy of Dunfermline, three grandchildren, Mike (Missy) Wilkinson, Gina Coleman, and Kelly (Darrell) Patraw, four great grandchildren Whitney Wilkinson, Brandon Spahn, Anthony Spahn, and Karly Patraw, one great great grandchild Bentley Spahn, and three brothers Gary (Louise) Means, Himey (Charlotte) Means, and Sonny (Pat) Means all of California.
Doris was a homemaker. She also worked as an LPN at Graham Hospital as well as a caregiver in private homes for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewistown. Doris enjoyed cooking and baking. Doris was a vibrant Christian woman of incredible compassion and service to others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who was known for her kindness and generosity. She will be remembered fondly for her warm personality, boundless energy, and good cooking by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday April 4th at the First Presbyterian Church of Lewistown with Reverend Danie deBeer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lewistown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to her church. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.
