He was born May 17, 1940 in Canton, IL to O. Robert (Bob) and Louise Grady.
Richard graduated from Farmington Community High School in 1958 and went to work on the family farm, which eventually became known as the Grady Christmas Tree Farm. He was interested in other produce, so at times the farm also sold strawberries, honey, and other berry crops.
He was a member of the Illinois Christmas Tree Association.
Richard enjoyed puzzles, especially jigsaw puzzles, which he sometimes worked picture-side down, just for the challenge. He also enjoyed crossword and Sudoku puzzles, working them in his head rather than on paper. He like to read and patiently helped younger siblings, nieces, and nephews with their math homework.
Richard is survived by his brothers, Robert (Emily) of Trivoli and Alan of Peoria and sisters, Ella Lou Little of Vancouver, WA, Patricia (Richard) Bosley of Aurora, CO, and Sara (Luke) Starcevich of Littleton, CO. He is also survived by two generation of loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Janet Sue Garcia and Mary Lee Grady; sister-in-law, Carol Grady; and brother-in-law, Larry Little.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 9th at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Farmington with visitation one hour prior. Mark Abbey will officiate.
Burial will be in Brunswick Cemetery, Trivoli.
