Canton – Kenneth D. “Ken” Green, 77, of Canton, died at 3:50 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born on November 26, 1937 in Bernadotte to Delno Green and Mary (VanFossen) Johnson.
He married Melvina Z. Burcky in Vermont, IL on June 5, 1958. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughter Kathryn (John) Gumpper of Salt Lake City, Utah, four grandchildren, Eric (Rachel) Barton, Ryan (Jennie) Barton, Kathryn (Kyle) McLellan and Christopher Gumpper, four great-grandchildren Chaska Barton, Micah Barton, Kaleb Barton and Marley Rae Barton, one brother Charles Norman (Nobuko) Green of Vermont, and foster daughter Monica Tomich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings Betty Harris, Melba Stambaugh, Doris Munson and Lloyd Green.
Ken retired from Caterpillar Inc. Mapleton Plant in 1993 as a power truck operator after 30 years, and was a proud member of UAW #974.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles” from 1956-59.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19 at the First Presbyterian Church in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior. Rev. Tim Bauler will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Vermont Cemetery, following a funeral brunch.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
