Canton -Jim Trone, 83, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at OSF St Francis in Peoria.
He was born on February 22, 1939 in Rushville to Carl and Mabel (Hollenbeck) Trone.He married Elsie Murphy on February 2, 1958 in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Gayle (Bob) Burie of Meeker, OK, Chris Trone of Canton, Jill Otto of Canton, Erin (Andrew) Ridenour of Canton, one sister, Betty Crosier of Canton, and six grandchildren, Evan Otto, Kaden Otto, Lakon Otto, Gavin Otto, Isaac Ridenour and Ian Ridenour.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Trone, four brothers, Bob, Hank, Jody and Donnie, and one sister, Marjorie Chenoweth.
Jim was a self-employed contractor and he and his son Chris owned and operated Trone Construction. Together they were the primary contractors on the church's expansion projects, which included a new sanctuary, gymnasium, and fellowship hall.
Jim's highlight in life was watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He never missed a game.
Another pass time that Jim loved was racing horses. He enjoyed speed events, especially flag racing.
Jim was a follower of Jesus and a faithful member of the Evangelical Free Church of Canton. He served as a church Elder, Sunday School Teacher, AWANA Leader, and was an active member of a small group. Jim's one desire in life was that his children and grandchildren would love the Lord Jesus Christ as he did.
Cremation rites have been accorded through the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 2. 2022 from 3-4 with a service to follow at 4 pm. All services will be held at Evangelical Free Church.
