Laura Belle McDaniel, 96, of Kilbourne passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 4:52 p.m. at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg. She was born on February 3, 1926 in Snicarte to Arthur and Marie (Butler) Ward. She married Johnnie L. “Bud” McDaniel in Mason County on May 25, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2011.Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her children: Kenneth Leo (Leslie) McDaniel of Leawood, Kansas, Richard McDaniel of Bellevue, Nebraska, George McDaniel of Kilbourne, Robert (Lynne) McDaniel of Kilbourne, and Thomas (Patty) McDaniel of Kilbourne, thirteen grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren, and one sister, Verda Flowers of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Charles McDaniel, seven siblings, and two grandsons.
Mrs. McDaniel worked for Hiram Walker and cleaned houses and banks. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, flowers, and watching her grandkids in sports. She had a large collection of frogs. She was President of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of the Rebekah’s and Royal Neighbors.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana at 2:00 p.m., with a visitation one hour prior from 1:00 p.m .to 2:00 p.m. Rev. Jim Buchanan will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Snicarte Cemetery.
