Alta L. Brown

Alta Lavina Brown, age 99 of Industry, Illinois, formerly of Astoria, Illinois, passed away at 10:15 pm Sunday, September 12, 2021 at her home. She was born on September 30, 1921 in Browning, Illinois, the daughter of Clifford and Iva (Ritchey) Walton. Alta made her home with several relatives, including her Aunt Addie and Uncle Dalt Miller.

She married Wade Arlo Brown on May 28, 1955 in Astoria. He preceded her in death on September 30, 2014. Alta was also preceded in death by her daughter Margie Crumrine, three sisters; Ramona Lancaster, Wilda Lancaster, and Lola Anliker, and two brothers, Everette and John Walton.

Alta worked at Nielson's Grocery in Vermont, Illinois for many years.

She was a member of the Astoria Church of Christ.

Alta is survived by her granddaughter Cassandra Stoddart of Moorhead, Minnesota, three great-grandchildren; McKensie, Ryker, and Everett and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18th at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Eric Trone will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Vermont Cemetery, Vermont, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Church of Christ.
