Sallie A. Newton, 72, of Summit, IL, formerly of Canton, IL, passed away at 12:33 PM on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in Summit, IL. She was born on February 18, 1946 in Canton, IL to Edward and Virginia (Fidler) Breese. She married Larry G. Newton in Canton, IL, he preceded her in death on October 16, 2005.
Also preceding her in death were her parents.
Surviving are four children, Curtis Newton of Homerglenn, IL, Stanton (Julie) Newton of Summit, IL, Larry James Newton of Summit, IL, and Ellen (Vollie) Pearson of Summit, IL; five grandchildren, Chrisa (Aaron) Carey, Angelia (Will) Knott, Rosa (Jason) Kintner, Antonio (Katelyn) Mendoza, and Samantha (David) Turley; thirteen great-grandchildren, Isabella, Hunter, Arreyanna, and Phoenix Mendoza, Steven, Greysen, Anderson, and Willow Carey, Lily Kintner, Mary Jane and Dwayne Knott, and Lucy and Shawn Turley; one brother, Edward (Cynthia) Breese of Canton, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Sallie was the former president of the Archer Heights Credit Union in Chicago. She was a past member of Shield’s Chapel Church in Canton and also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Rev. David Meader will officiate. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton, IL. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the funeral home.
