Jeffrey D. Batterton, age 47 of Astoria, Illinois, passed away at 6:40 am on Monday, February 18, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on November 10, 1971 in Beardstown, Illinois, the son of Henry and Melba (Cluney) Fulscher. Jeff married Twila Groves on October 5, 2002 in Astoria, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter Alyssa Batterton and his son, Jaxson Batterton, both at home, his mother Melba Lindsey of Astoria, his sister Debbie (and Don) Ulm of Macomb, Illinois, and his two brothers, Brad (and Tina) Batterton and Bill (and Tammy) Batterton, both of Astoria.
Jeff was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Dale Batterton and grandparents Darrell and Ferne Cluney.
He worked for Lee Mechanical in Quincy, Illinois as a pipe fitter.
Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, cooking, and riding his Harley and Can Am. Most of all, he loved his family and always put them first.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 am at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Ben Murray will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22nd from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Astoria, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Jaxson Batterton education fund or the Astoria Fire Department.
