Canton – Craig Schoonover, 68, of Canton passed away at 3:00 am, Thursday, January 31, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on May 23, 1950 in Rushville, IL. to John L. and Doris (Stephens) Schoonover. He married Barbara Bennett on January 31, 1971 in Rushville, IL. She survives along with two children; Jamie Schoonover and Cory (Rachel) Schoonover both of Canton, brother Rod (Barbara) Schoonover of Rushville, IL, sister Sandra (Tom) Harrington of Kirkland, WA, two grandchildren; Connor Ball and Isabella Schoonover.
Craig worked as an engineer for Springfield Coal Company. He was an avid outdoors man, antique collector, wood worker, and loved his family.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton are in charge of arrangements.
