Harlan John Hedges
Glasford – Harlan John Hedges, 98, passed away at 12:53 AM on Friday, February 8, 2019 at The Loft in Canton. He was born on September 6, 1920 in Orion Township to Archie and Emma (Islie) Hedges. He married Virginia Scott, they were married for 72 years. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Bonnie (Randy Joe) Cremeens of Canton and Alvin Hedges of Murphysboro; six grandchildren, John (Sarah) Eveland, Bill (Christina) Eveland, Chris (Amy) Marshall, Randy (Renee) Eveland, David (Jenni) Knowles and Richie Hedges; 12 great-grandchildren, Maggie and Sada Eveland, Taylor and Rilea Marshall, Matt, Josh, Jessica Eveland, Warren and Vincent Eveland, Cadence and Kerigan Knowles, and Emma Hedges.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Roger Hedges.
Harlan was a farmer all of his life. He was a member of the Canton Moose and a lifetime member of the Canton VFW. Harlan enjoyed fishing, playing pool, gardening, dancing, and his family. He was an avid Cubs fan.
Harlan served in the Army during WWII.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 11, 2019 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10 AM-11 AM. Pastor Rebecca Gearhart will officiate. Burial will follow at Brunswick Cemetery in Rural Trivoli, IL. Memorials can be made to Canton VFW.
