Richard “Dick” A. Davis
Richard “Dick” A. Davis, 65, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 9:48 am on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at his home. He was born on Thursday, February 6, 1953 in Canton, IL, the son of Whitney and Norma (Siler) Davis. Dick married Jody Fisher-Welker on October 26, 1996 at their home in Astoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his 3 sons, Brandon L. Welker, Whitney J. (and wife Jordyn) Davis and Chase R. (and fiancée Lyndsey) Davis, all of Astoria, his daughter, Brandy Welker of Astoria, 10 grandchildren, Tyson McGinnis, Addeline McGinnis, Keltyn Foster, Aleah McGinnis, Donnie Welker, Emma Welker, Aubri Welker, Paisley Davis, Pyper Davis and Jessa Davis, 2 brothers, Mike (and wife Peg) Davis of Rushville, IL and Jon Davis of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents and sister, Jill Elliott.
Dick worked at International Harvester for 10 years. He then worked construction and became a Union Carpenter. As a carpenter, Dick became a Carpenter Superintendent for River City Construction, where he proudly worked for 26 years and retired from in 2012.
Dick enjoyed car shows, camping, his garden, riding his Harley, bowling, mushrooming and all of his family and friends.
A service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Ben Murray will be officiating. A visitation will be held 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the funeral home in Astoria. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.
