Canton – H. Marie Murphy, 100, of Canton, passed away at 8:15 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at her residence. She was born on July 11, 1917 in Canton to Rowland and Emily (Stephens) Turner. She married Kenneth Murphy on June 17, 1937 in Canton, he preceded her in death on February 15, 1991.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, one daughter, Linda Bell, and three sisters, Correne Courtney, Olive Jourdan, and Marjorie Ruey.
Surviving is one daughter, Mary Sue Williams of Canton; four grandchildren, Kimberle Williams of Pekin, Darren Williams of Kingsland, GA, Kevin Bell of Canton, and Sherri Bell of Norris; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Bill Turner of Haines City, FL, and Roland (Donna) Turner of Lewistown, IL.
Marie worked as a histology technician in Graham Hospitals laboratory for 23 years. She attended First Baptist church in Canton.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL. Rev. Monroe Bailey will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Memorials can be made to Fulton County Humane Society or Illinois Cancer Care.
