Cody grew up in Canton, IL loving his trips to the family farm with his dad and Papa John. He remained a constant presence there until he graduated as valedictorian from Canton High School in 2007 and moved to Urbana-Champaign to attend the University of Illinois where he made lifelong friends at the 606. He graduated from U of I with a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 2012 and took a position as a test engineer with Case New Holland out of Iowa. When diagnosed with brain cancer in 2009, Cody was determined not to be slowed down. He returned to the physical labor of the family farm in 2013 in order to be closer to family, but also to return to the career he loved. Back in Canton, Cody humbly enjoyed the last years of his life hanging out with the guys, surrounding himself with happiness, and charming everyone he knew with his orneriness and smile.
Cody’s endless love for his family and friends, his bravery in the face of a terminal illness, and his eternal optimism toward life will always remain with those who knew and loved him. Cody will now and forever be happy, young, and most importantly at peace.
