Norris – Garland B. Steagall Sr., 97, of Norris, passed away at his residence at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 11, 2017. He was born on January 26, 1920 in Farmer City, IL to Luny B. and Virgie (Mitchell) Steagall. He married May L. Mitchell on February 10, 1939 in Clinton, IL, she preceded him in death on February 24, 2008.
Garland was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Garland B. “Bud” Steagall Jr. and Ronald D. Steagall; daughter-in-law, Patricia Steagall; two brothers, one sister; and one grandson.
Surviving are two sons; Lawrence Steagall of Norris, and Michael (Connie) Steagall of St. Peter’s, MO; sister, Dorothy Rawley of Norris; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Garland was a Farmer, worked for International Harvester as a Laborer for 30 years, and worked for the City of Norris for 27 years. He loved to work outside and enjoyed dancing every chance he could.
Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. A burial of ashes will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Franzoni Norris Park. To make online condolences you may go to www.sedgwickfuneralhomes.com
