Canton – Robert Lee Williams, 86,
of Canton passed away at 6:50 am Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Renaissance Care
Center in Canton. He was born on December
17, 1930 in Banner Township to Burl and Nellie (Ellis) Williams. Robert married Margaret Hayes on August 4,
1951 in Lewistown, IL. She preceded him
in death on October 5, 2010. Also
preceding him in death were his parents, and one brother Wade Williams. Surviving are three children; Robert E.
Williams of Monterey, Kathy (Glenn) Armstrong and David W. (Terri) Williams
both of Canton, three grandchildren; Erika Kisler of Peoria, Gabe Kisler of
Knoxville, and Beth Williams of Canton,
four step grandchildren; Tara Harris, Miranda Henderson, Ian (Amber) Henderson,
and Jennifer (Anthony) Mahr, three great-grandchildren; Cayden Davis, Rhylend
Williams, and Emma Copes, seven step great-grandchildren; Alize Holly, Thaiyla
Harris, Marley and Jude Herren - Clark, Glenn Smith, A.J. Mahr, and Caleb Mahr.
Robert worked at Caterpillar,
Mapleton Plant, as a machinist for 42 years, retiring in 1989. He was an Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient
serving during the Korean War. Robert
was a board member of save Rice Lake Area Association and a member of Monterey
United Methodist Church.
Services will be 11am Wednesday,
August 2, 2017 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be
one hour prior to services. The Rev.
Rebecca Gearhart will officiate. Burial
will follow in Walnut Cemetery in Banner, IL.
Memorials can be made either Monterey United Methodist Church or St.
Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
