Maurice A. Russell
Canton – Maurice A. Russell, 96, of Canton passed away Friday July 28, 2017 at his home, in Canton.
He was born on April 12, 1921 in Nevada Missouri. To Robert R. and Adrian (Lowe) Russell
He married Norma (Graham) on April 18, 1943 in Kahoka Missouri, she survives
Surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him affectionately.
Proceeding him in death are his parents, one brother Billy and two sisters Mary, and Frances.
Maurice was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps from 1942 until 1946, he worked at International Harvester for two years, and then became a black angus farmer until he retired, he was a member of the Illinois Angus Association where he was a former president, Fulton County Fair board and was also a judge for the angus cows, the Fulton County Farm Bureau, the Lewistown American Legion, Lewiston Odd Fellows, an election judge up until the last election and was a member of the former Community of Christ Church. Maurice’s hobbies were working on antique clocks, wood carving, and working on old tractors.
A visitation will be held Tuesday August 1, 2017 from 1pm until 2pm at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, burial with military honors will immediately follow the visitation at the Summom Cemetery in Summom.
Memorials may be made out to the Lewistown American Legion.
