Lewistown- Larry D. Lester, 68, of Lewistown passed away at 6:04 PM Monday July 17, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospital.
He was born March 20, 1949 at Canton, Illinois the son of Robert and Philomena (Leonard) Lester. He married Deborah Booker on April 16, 1971 at Manchester, NH. She survives. Also surviving are three children, Scott (Darla) Lester of Omaha, NE; Lori (Aaron Fenn) Lester of Council Bluffs, IA; and Lisa (Chris) Leger of Auburn, NH; eight grandchildren, Alexis Leger, Ethan Leger, Sydni Leger, Alyssa Lester, Christian Lester, David Lester, Makenzie Lester, and Payton Lester, seven siblings, Ellie Toomer of Lewistown, Kay McDaniel of St. Petersburg, FL; Linda Smith of Lonoke, AR; Bobbie Parsons of Peoria, Becki (Bill Wicevich) Lester of Cave Creek, AZ; Dee (Steve) Honn of Arthur, and Gary (Christy) Lester of Canton. He was preceded in death by his father and granddaughter Adysson Lester.
Larry worked in security for many years. He served his country in the US Navy amphibious assault during the Vietnam War.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Pastor Eric Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lewistown with military services conducted by the Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and the Lewistown American Legion Post 1. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expense.
