Canton – Darren J. Dworak, 73, of Canton, passed away at 11:32 am Friday, June 30, 2017 in Peoria, IL. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on November 1, 1943 in Canton to Marion and Viola (Carlstrom) Dworak. Darren married Joyce Youngblood on July 17, 1965 in Canton. She survives along with two daughters; Angie Holthaus of Canton and Renee Dworak of Waynesville, IL, one brother Anthony “Tony” Dworak of Summum, one sister Ann Murdock of Willamsfield, IL, and two grandchildren; Matthew and Mia. Darren was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Janice Royer.
Darren worked at International Harvester Company and also at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton, an avid Canton Little Giant Football fan and loved his grandchildren, hunting, and fishing. Darren’s major passion was horses and horse racing.
Mass will be 10 am, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Daniel Ebker officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday with a 7 pm Rosary at Oak-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Canton. Memorials can be made to the St. Mary’s Church Building Fund. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
