Joni Marie Johnson
Canton-Joni Marie Johnson, 55, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at her residence.
She was born on June 20, 1962 in Peoria to Dale and Patricia (Stear) Adkins.
Surviving is her mother Patricia (David) Anderson of Farmington, her lifetime partner, David Johnson, four children, Andy Kingsley of Pekin, Patricia (Matt Parish) Kingsley of Hanna City, Shelby Johnson of Canton, McKenzi (Clayton McDermet) Johnson of Canton, two brothers, Dale (Patty) Adkins of Farmington, John (Helen) Adkins of West Peoria, one sister, Rhonda (Mark) Dawson of Farmington and eight grandchildren, Emilie, Madison, Jorden, Gavin, Jarren, Journey, Onna and Osker.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Joni was a LPN at the Graham Hospital in Canton where she touched the lives of many patients and their families. Most of all she loved her family, children and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am, on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a visitation on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from 5-7 pm, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Oak-Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Elva “Berniece” Hedden
Smithfield – Elva “Berniece” Hedden, 88, of Smithfield, passed away at 12:15 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Graham Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 13, 1929 in Lewistown to Harry W. and Emma (Dunn) Loveland. She married Dorwin W. (Salty) Hedden on July 22, 1949 in Lewistown, he survives.
Also surviving are three children, Ronny E. (Debby) Mackinaw, Richard A. (Emma) Hedden of Cuba, and Kathy S. (Eric) St. Clair of Wee-ma-tuk; daughter-in-law, Pam Hedden of Ellisville; five grandchildren, Chris Mahr, Kari Simmons, Dax Hedden, Kourtney St. Clair, and Kassidy St. Clair; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elouise Harper.
Berniece was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jerald “Jerry” W. Hedden, four brothers, and three sisters.
Berniece was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Her greatest joy was her family.
Services will be held at 12 PM noon on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, where a visitation will be held from 11-12 PM. Rev. Ellen Dodd will officiate. Naomi Barnett
Canton-Naomi R. Barnett, 81, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017, at her residence.
She was born on January 6, 1936, in Los Angeles, CA, to Cedrick and Leona (Case) Dalzell. They preceded her in death.
She married Delbert Barnett on April 3, 1956 in Los Angeles, CA. He survives.
Also surviving is her daughter Karen (Kevin) Klinedinst of Lewistown, one nephew, Jeff Dalzell and one niece, Kelli Dalzell both of Florida.
She was also preceded in death by one brother Carl Dalzell and one sister Norma Jean.
Naomi worked as a banker for the Idaho First National Bank retiring in 1999. She was an active member of the 1st Baptist Church in Canton and volunteered for the food pantry and the Buddy Bag Program.
She was known throughout her church as a kind, caring and loving women who opened her heart to all who entered the doors.
A memorial funeral service will be held on
Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at the 1st Baptist Church in Canton with a visitation one hour prior at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded per her wishes.
Burial of the ashes will be held at the Oak-Hill Cemetery in Lewistown at a later date.

Walter Odell Edwards
Canton – Walter Odell Edwards, 88, of Canton, passed away surrounded by his family, on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born on August 11, 1929 in Mason County, IL, to James and Alice (Landis) Edwards. They preceded him in death.
He married Emma Post in 1949 in Maples Mill. IL, she proceeded him in death in 2002. He married Alice (Zaborac) in 2003. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Kenneth Edwards, of Chicago, Gary Edwards, of Canton, two grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and daughter in law Brenda.
He was preceded in death by one son Daniel Edwards, three brothers Woodrow, George and James Edwards, four sisters Marie, Pauline, Christy, and Bertha and one grandson, Aaron Edwards.
Walter worked for several local farmers and Laidlaw Wire as a truck driver. He later worked for Sears Auto Department and lastly worked for and retired from Bill’s Service Station.
He volunteered for the American Red Cross for 12 years and then the Senior Transportation for 3 years. He was a member of the Graham Hospital Service league and the First Church of the Nazarene for many years where he held all the offices of the church board. He also was a baseball manager for many years. He enjoyed gardening and mowing lawns.
A funeral will be held on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at 11 am, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton where visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made to Canton First Church of the Nazarene.

Ronald Dean “R.D.” Morse
Ronald Dean “R.D.” Morse, 64, of Canton, passed away at 7:25 PM on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton. He was born on April 19, 1953 in Canton to Vernon Dean and Evelyn Berniece (Windsor) Morse.
Surviving are five children, Maria (Cory) Johnson of Burlington, IA, Gail (Mike) Belless of Abington, IL, Luke (Lauren) Schlindwein of Lacon, IL, Katie Reneau of Dunfermline, IL, and Randolph Walker of Pekin, IL; eight grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Janet) Morse of Canton, IL; five sisters, Sandra Phillips, Mary (Don) Matthews of Canton, IL, Debra (Angie) Wright of Belleville, MI, JoAnn (Mike) Wright of Cuba, IL, and Susan (Ron) Morse of Norris, IL; several nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Gary Meyer of Canton, IL.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gary Lee Morse, one sister, May Meyer, and three nieces.
Ronald was a transporter for BNSF Railroad in Galesburg, IL.

E. Dwayne Workman
E. Dwayne Workman, age 85 of Astoria, IL, passed away at 12:09 am on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on November 18, 1932 in Woodland Township, Fulton County, IL, the son of Everett and Pearl (Smith) Workman. He married Josephine Hayes on July 28, 1956 in Hannibal, MO. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2001.
Dwayne was also preceded in death by his son Gary Dwayne Workman and his sister Rose Workman.
He is survived by three daughters, Connie Robertson of Rushville, IL, Janet (and Danny) Haywood of Rushville, IL, and Carol Cozad of Lewistown, IL, four grandchildren, Amanda Workman, Olivia Robertson, Chris Cozad, and Melissa Cozad, four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Cooper, Marlee, and Everett, and his brother Phillip Workman of Astoria, IL.
Dwayne worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 32 years.
He was an Army veteran.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pastor Jason Triplett will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27th from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Summum Cemetery, Summum, IL with full military rites provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. Memorials may be given to the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.
Martha Gamble
Canton-Martha (Marty) Jane Gamble, 81, of Canton, fell asleep at 9:42 a.m. at Graham Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on July 27, 1936 in Canton to Grace Anna (Bonney) and William A. Baxter.
She is survived by all her brothers and sisters throughout the congregation and several nieces and nephews, also a very close dear friend Lyle Smith.
Marty was proceeded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
Marty was a cook for many different cafes throughout her years, she was always a hard worker, she was a very faithful servant of Jehovah’s and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Canton, Marty loved reading the bible and she loved to paint and draw. She was very humble, always willing to help her friends and family without a second thought. She also enjoyed sewing, her greatest joy was finding Jehovah god. She loved to dance and sing
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness on Saturday January 13, 2018 at 2pm will Cliff Smedstad officiating, a dinner will follow the service at the Optimist Club in St. David.

Canton – David J. Promen, 76, of Canton, passed away at 10:43 PM on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria, IL. He was born on March 10, 1941 in Fond Du Lac, WI to Joseph Promen and Ada Mitzelfeldt. He married Kathy Schuman on March 10, 1973 in Canton, IL.
Surviving is one daughter, Brenda (Cindy Stuber) Shawgo of Canton; two grandchildren, Chase and Sloan Shawgo; one step-granddaughter, Mariah Shawgo; one brother, Daniel (Marie) Promen of Fond Du Lac, WI; step-brother, Joe Schroeder of Fond Du Lac, WI; step-sister, Mary (Robert) Huberty of Fond Du Lac, WI; many nieces and nephews, Brian Promen of Fond Du Lac, WI, Rodney Harris of Canton, Jeffrey Harris of Siren, WI, Steve Kovachevich of Champaign, IL, Jennifer Kovachevich of Joliet, IL, Greg Schuman of Chillicothe, IL, and Amy Tiff of Chillicothe, IL.
David was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Paul Schroeder.
David graduated in 1959 from L.P. Goodrich High School in Fond Du Lac, WI, he then graduated from Madison Business College in 1964 with a B.A. Business Administration. He first worked for Wisconsin Finance and Ralston Purina Business Office in Fond Du Lac, WI. After moving to Canton, David worked as a manager at Tempo and later at Columbus, IN and Columbus, OH. He retired after 30 years from Mid America National Bank in Canton as Vice President of Lending.
David was a Sgt. Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1963-1969.
David was a past member at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond Du Lac, WI. In 1981 he was the vice president and later the president in 1982 for the Canton Friendship Festival Board of Directors. David was a past treasurer and past president for the Canton Area Chamber of Commerce Board member where he retired from in 1997. He was also a member of Canton Lion’s Club as Treasurer, Salvation Army Board Emeritus, Illinois Department of Corrections Advisory Board, Smithfield Sportsman’s Gun Club as Treasurer, Elmwood Gun Club, Ducks Unlimited Fulton County Corporate Sponsor. David was an owner of Pro Sports. David’s true passion was trapshooting, winning many championships over the years. He was a gun collector and avid Green Bay Packers fan. He also loved watching his grandchildren participate in their many sports.

Bud was a computer analyst for GTE/Verizon for many years. He served in the US Air Force and was stationed in Greenland where he served as a medic. Bud attended the Lewistown United Methodist Church and was a member of the Lewistown Lodge 104 AF&AM.

Dunfermline – Cindy Kay Spahn, 73, of Dunfermline, passed away at 12:05 am, Monday, December 25, 2017 at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba, IL. She was born on September 16, 1944 in Canton to LeRoy and Margaret (Lee) Messer. Surviving are two sons; Robert (Tina) Spahn of Cuba and Anthony Spahn of Dunfermline, one sister Patricia (John) Downs of Canton, brother-in-law Durand Sprague of Canton, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, two children; Wendy Spahn and Christopher Spahn, two brothers; Jerry Messer and Gary Messer, and one sister Cheryl Sprague.
Cindy worked as bookkeeper at several grocery stores in the Spoon River area.

Pauline E. Untz
Hanna City – Pauline E. Untz, 85, of Hanna City, passed away at 7:20 PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at her residence. She was born on January 6, 1932 in Middle Grove, IL to George and Goldie (Chaney) Morse. She married Robert W. Untz on July 10, 1948 in Canton, IL, they were married for 69 years. He survives.
Also surviving is one son, Paul (Helen) Untz of Elmwood; daughter-n-law, Cheryl Untz; three grandchildren, Nicole (Steve) Dixon of Fort Madison, IA, Helena (Matt) Kowal of Peoria, and Robert J. Untz of Cibolo, TX; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Eileen Rusk; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Robert “Bob” “Dennie” Untz; one great-grandchild, Hayden Kowal; four brothers, Brian, Rex, Vernon, and George Jr.; and one sister, Florine Morse.
Pauline was a member of Smithville Bible Church since October 16, 1983 and also a member of Hanna City United Methodist Church since May 9, 1993. She was in a Doll club and loved to collect dolls, angels, and salt and pepper shakers. She was devoted to her kids and grandkids.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 AM. Rev. Bob DeBolt will officiate. George White
Canton – George Richard White, 69, of Canton, passed away at 3:27 PM on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at his home. He was born on September 26, 1948 in Bushnell to Harry and Leona (Morris) White. He married Peggy Satterly on January 18, 1984 in Lewistown, they were together for 45 loving years.
Surviving is his wife, Peggy; two children, Carrie (Kenneth) Riddle and Michael (Jessica) White; five grandchildren, Evrett 15, LeeAnna13, Katherine 11, Emma 7, and Brian 5; one brother, Lee White of Canton; two sisters, Rosie Purchase and Barb Morrow; and many nieces and nephews.
George will finally be reunited with his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
George has the most thoughtful, kindest, biggest heart and would do everything he could to help anyone in need. He always enjoyed every second of his time with all of his grandchildren. George loved to laugh and give you the business. George worked at Spoon River College for 14 years. He absolutely loved being outdoors, fishing, walking, mushrooming, and when he wasn’t doing that he was watching the Cubs and Bears.

Valerie J. Thompson
Lewistown-Valerie J. Thompson, 60, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017, at OSF St Francis in Peoria.
She was born on March 22, 1957, in Canton to Robert and Beverly (Widger) Chasteen.
Surviving is her father Robert (Carolyn) Chasteen of Lewistown, one son, Beau (Cappie) Chasteen of Lewistown, four brothers, Robert (Debra) Chasteen of Lewistown, Marty (Paula) Chasteen of Cuba, Clinton (Melissa) Chasteen of Colorado, Chad (Brandy) Chasteen of Lewistown, one sister, Kelly (Blair) Mason of Lewistown, two grandchildren, Dalton Chasteen, Drew Dusenbery and her beloved dog “Lucy”.
Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Her mother preceded her in death.
Valerie was a beautician and later worked at White Oaks as a drug and alcohol counselor from where she retired. She loved the outdoors and sitting around the campfire. Most of all she loved her family.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton from 4-7 pm with a funeral service on Wednesday, at 1pm, at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Wiley Cemetery.

Canton-Bette J. Kuzniar, 90, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Sunset Manor in Canton.
She was born on May 22, 1927 in Canton to Thomas and Maude (Oliver) Anderson. They preceded her in death.
She married Michael A. Kuzniar Jr on May 22, 1946, in Canton. He survives.
Also preceding her in death are her children, Maudeen Kay Bohanan, Rodney M. Kuzniar, an infant child, three brothers, Raymond, Donald and Everett Anderson and two sisters, Iva Rench and Louella Wrhel.

She married Michael A. Kuzniar Jr on May 22, 1946, in Canton. He survives.
Also preceding her in death are her children, Maudeen Kay Bohanan, Rodney M. Kuzniar, an infant child, three brothers, Raymond, Donald and Everett Anderson and two sisters, Iva Rench and Louella Wrhel.

She was born on September 2, 1950 in Rushville to Morris and Ella Mae (Shelaberger) Busby. They preceded her in death.
Surviving is her children, Cynthia (Ed) Steagall of Canton, Troy (Tracie) Sheets of Canton, brother, Michael Busby of Table Grove, sisters, Marsha Himmel of Forest City, Pam Shaw of Astoria, Nancy Gilson of Decatur, Julie Anderson of Springfield, OH, Sharon Ratcliff of Browning, Terry Briggs of Philadelphia, Joyce Corman of Champaign, Leslie Corman of Nacogdoches, TX and two grandchildren, Clayton and Nicole Girard.
Also surviving is her friend and companion, Marion Buskirk and several nieces and nephews..

She was a self-employed.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Canton – Lela R. Landis, 91, of Canton, passed away at 10:00 PM on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Graham Hospital. She was born on November 9, 1926 in Astoria to Edward and Pearl (Thomas) Shawgo. She first married Thomas Crouch in April of 1950 in Canton, IL, he preceded her in death. She later married Frank C. Landis on December 20, 1969 in Canton, IL, he preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, and four sisters.

Helen Elaine Rinke
Helen Elaine Rinke of Peoria passed away on December 11, 2017, at Cornerstone Rehabilitation Center in Peoria Heights, IL. Helen was born in Fairbury, IL, to Clarence M. Stitzel and Hazel Donagh Stitzel.
Helen grew up in Canton, IL, and took classes at Bradley University, where Sam J. Stone was one of her favorite professors. After WWII, she lived in Evanston, IL, with her brother and his wife while working and saving money from various jobs. Using her earnings, she traveled to Europe in the early 1950s at a time when few women traveled by themselves. She visited England, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy, where she was allowed to touch Michelangelo’s famous statue, The PietĂ , in Vatican City. She met Mr. Herman Rinke in Europe, and the couple later married and settled in New York. The couple divorced in 1971, and Helen was remarried to Mr. Henry Ruschmeyer. Living for many years in the New York City area, Helen was known as a fun and gracious hostess who loved showing family and friends around. A great animal lover, she ran a private cat shelter for many years. A lover of trains and transit, Helen also volunteered at the Connecticut Trolley Museum, where she learned to operate street cars. After the death of her second husband, Helen traveled and visited friends, eventually returning to Canton and Peoria.
Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, and her brother, James Arthur Stitzel. She is survived by her nephews, David and Kendal Stitzel, of Fort Collins, CO; grandnephew Caleb Stitzel of Fort Collins, CO; grandniece Margaret Stitzel of Detroit, MI; and grandniece Tierney Branson of Grand Forks, ND.
A brief graveside memorial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at 1 PM at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL. Please bring a memory about Helen or a favorite scripture. Lewistown- Jeffery S. Hadsall, 61, of Lewistown, passed away at 6:04 PM Tuesday December 12, 2017 at Graham Hospital.
He was born April 26, 1956 at Canton, the son of Doyle L. and Verna L. (Arnett) Hadsall. He married Kathryn Chipman on April 1, 2013 at Lewistown. She survives with one daughter, Amy (Tim) Bays of Sessor, three step sons, Douglas (Le-Nette) Tindall, Roger Tindall, and Kevin (Amanda) Tindall all of Lewistown, eight grandchildren, Kylee Hadsall, Randi Jo Bays, Bailey Tindall, Haydyn Tindall, Halle Tindall, Hannah Tindall, Cade Tindall, and Isabelle Tindall, one sister, Tresa Wilcox of Lewistown, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joseph Hadsall, one brother, Doyle, and a twin brother, Joseph.
Jeff retired from Alexander Lumber in Canton, and later worked as a school crossing guard for the City of Lewistown. He was a member of the Alligators Club and enjoyed playing shuffle board, playing pitch, and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He will always be remembered for having a can of PBR in his hand.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown, where visitation will be held from 12-2 PM. Burial will be in Waterford Cemetery. Lewistown- Nina F. Stutes, 91, of Lewistown, passed away Sunday December 10, 2017 at the Hemphill Health Care Center in Hemphill, TX.
She was born October 28, 1926 at rural Lewistown, the daughter of Don V. and Jessie (Hughes) May. She married Gilbert L. Stutes at St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Merlin, Clair, Kenneth, and Thomas, one sister, Verna Burgess, and two infant sisters. Survivors in include one son, Gilbert V. (Roberta) Stutes of Canton, one daughter, Letha (John) Perardi of Hemphill, TX; four grandchildren, Jason (Yazmin) Stutes of Benson, AZ; Alison (Dave) Heitman of Mokena, IL; Eric (Rachel) Perardi of Austin, TX; and Anthony (Jessica) Perardi of Round Rock, TX; nine great grandchildren, David Heitman, Matteo Perardi, Tres Perardi, Aubrie Perardi, Caiden Perardi, Chase Perardi, Noah Perardi, and Ryleigh Herrara, and one brother, Frank (Sandra) May of Albuquerque, NM.
Nina loved to travel and spend time with her friends and family. Her passions were working on geneology, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens.

Hanna City- Ellen T. Bland, 61, of Hanna City, passed away Saturday December 9, 2017 at her home.
She was born December 17, 1955 in Graham Hospital , the daughter of Dr. and Mrs J.R. Thompson who were lifelong residents of Lewistown. She married Thomas G. Bland on June 22, 1985 in Lewistown. He survives with one sister, Maryjane Thompson-Schwab of Lewistown, two brothers, Richard J. “Rick” Thompson of Denver, CO; and James F. “J.F.” Thompson of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ellen worked as a dental hygienist for many years and had worked at her father’s dental office in Lewistown for several years. She received her Masters of Science degree from St. Francis University in Joliet. She was a member of the Illinois State Dental Society and ADHA, a member of the Illinois & Peoria Dental Hygiene Association. She loved to travel and had traveled to China, Russia, Africa, Ireland, Jordan, and Tibet. Ellen was an active member of the People to People International. Ellen traveled with the Humanitarian Relief Organization for dental health , and donated her time and expertise to indigent residents of both South Africa and St. Petersburg, Russia. She was an avid runner for over 40 years.

Norris – Garland B. Steagall Sr., 97, of Norris, passed away at his residence at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 11, 2017. He was born on January 26, 1920 in Farmer City, IL to Luny B. and Virgie (Mitchell) Steagall. He married May L. Mitchell on February 10, 1939 in Clinton, IL, she preceded him in death on February 24, 2008.
Garland was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Garland B. “Bud” Steagall Jr. and Ronald D. Steagall; daughter-in-law, Patricia Steagall; two brothers, one sister; and one grandson.
Surviving are two sons; Lawrence Steagall of Norris, and Michael (Connie) Steagall of St. Peter’s, MO; sister, Dorothy Rawley of Norris; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Garland was a Farmer, worked for International Harvester as a Laborer for 30 years, and worked for the City of Norris for 27 years. He loved to work outside and enjoyed dancing every chance he could.

Canton – John M. Beale, 89, passed away on Friday, December 08, 2017, at Red Oak Estates in Canton.
He was born on April 3, 1928, in Forest City, IL, to Floyd and Ida (Carpenter) Beale. They preceded him in death.
He married JoAnne Shaw on June 29, 1952, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, John (Denise) Beale of Manchester, MO, Julie (Scott) Jenkins of Edwards, James (Marcilene) Beale of Manchester, MO, one sister, Dalta Lou (Bill) Heinhorst of Hopedale, six grandchildren, Erin and Kaitlyn Beale, Patrick (Mallory) and Mark (Shannon) Jenkins, Julieanna and Adriana Beale and two great grandchildren, JoAnna and Levi Jenkins.
Two brothers, Nelson and Carl Beale and three sisters, Eileen Sours, Lois Munge and Sherry Rockhold also preceded him in death.
John served in the United States Marine Corp. He worked for Mutual Savings and Loan for 26 years and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Canton. He was a past member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Canton Country Club and Wee-Ma-Tuk Hills Country Club. He was active in the Fulton County Playhouse.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 11 am, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with a visitation one hour prior at the church.
Burial will be at the White Chapel Memory Gardens.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is entrusted with the services.

She was born on June 10, 1935, in Chicago, to Milton and Margaret (Dennis) Potter. They preceded her in death.

She was born on June 12, 1945 in Macomb, IL, the daughter of Paul and Lela (Howell) Porter. On December 22, 1963, Mary Jo married Donald Keefauver in Ipava, IL. He survives.

Mary Jo loved handiwork, especially crocheting, knitting, needle point, and quilting. She made the best black raspberry jelly around and loved to can everything grown in the garden.
She was a loving mother who was always there for her children. Whether it was a sporting event, church activity or being their prayer warrior, Mary Jo loved being mom.
She loved music and playing the piano.
Mary Jo attended the Berean Christian Church in Ipava, IL.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 16th at 10:00 a.m. at the Berean Christian Church in Ipava. Pastor Doug Krukewitt will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15th from 5-7 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery. Carolyn R. Ford, 64 of rural Canton, passed away at 10:24am on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Heartland Healthcare Center - Canton. She was born on May 20, 1953 in Macomb to Albert and Doris (Scanlan) Mayo. She married Ben Ford on July 10, 1991 in Galesburg, IL, he survives.
Also surviving are four children, Steve Myers, Crystal (Mitch) Bland, Jennifer Twait and BJ Ford; 7 grandchildren Ali, Tori, Cadence, Lola, Charleigh, Lyza, & Benjamin; 2 sisters, Debbie (Jerry) Heaton & Linda Campbell; 1 brother Don (Jan) Mayo; and a beloved pug dog Ernie Banks Ford.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, James Eugene Terry, William Edward Terry, Walter Wayne Terry, and three sisters, Nola Mae, Barbara Ellen, and Norma Lee. He was well loved and will be so missed by his brother Dick.
Robert worked as a master mechanic, transmission specialist, and service manager for many years. He served the Fulton County area for many years and also worked at Topline Auto Parts. Robert enjoyed working with people, could fix anything, and loved to take his 64 Ford Fairlane to car shows.
Robert served in the United States Army from September 1959 – August 1965.

Canton – Renè S. Edwards, 68, of Canton, passed away at 9:17 AM on Monday, December 4, 2017 at his residence. He was born on July 2, 1949 in Peoria, IL to Simpson and Marguerite (DuFour) Edwards. He married Michelle Wright on February 17, 1984 in Lewistown, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are seven children, Rhonda Yeley of Peoria, Christopher Edwards of Peoria, Yolanda Lomeli of TX, Jamel Edwards of Canton, Marguerite Edwards of Canton, Iris Edwards of NM, and Dominic Lomeli of Canton; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Andrè Edwards of Peoria; and two sisters, Francoise Reed of Peoria and Elisabeth (Walter) Jordan of Peoria.
Renè was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Alice D. Brown.
Renè retired working in the mail services for Caterpillar. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Canton and also Sam’s Club.

Ila Jean Owens (Yocum), 82, of Canton passed away on December, 4, 2017, at Redoak Estates in Canton,Illinois. She was born April 28, 1935 in her home on a farm near Bushnell, Illinois to Ralph and Gratia (Campbell) Yocum. She married Jim Owens on October 23, 1955 at her parents' home near Marietta, Illinois. Billiter (Kirk) of Bloomington; Kirk Owens of Champaign; Gina Spahn (Greg) of Canton, 8 grandchildren Ketra Moore, Colton Hinderliter, Kiefer Owens, Ruthie Mathewson , Elizabeth Spahn, Olivia Spahn, Owen Spahn, and Michael Vinh Nguyen Owens and 6 greatgrandchildren. Ila Jean was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Dana
Rosalyn. Ila Jean was raised on a farm near Marietta. She attended Marietta and Smithfield grade schools . She was homecoming queen at Cuba High School and graduated from Cuba High school in 1953. Ila Jean worked at the Cuba State Bank from 1953-1957. Following the birth of her oldest son, Ila Jean chose to be a homemaker; caring for her family throughout her life. She was a strong, loving, caring, intelligent and a classy woman. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, antiquing, and always loved listening to country music. She was a staunch St. Louis Cardinal baseball and Fighting Illini basketball fan. Her husband Jim stated,"In my heart, nothing I could write would
do her justice! Sugar and Spice and everything nice is what Ila Jean was made of."
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 9, 2017, at 11:00 am at Oaks-Hines

Farmington– Lyle L. Oldfield, 63, of Farmington, passed away at his home at 11:45 AM on Saturday, December 2, 2017. He was born on February 11, 1954 in Peoria, IL to Loren and Delma “Maxine” (Harman) Oldfield. He first married Debra Jenkins and later married Katherine Glaser Williams on July 11, 1977 at the Church of the Brethren. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Christina (Christopher) Jostes, BJ (Michelle) Oldfield both of Farmington; five grandchildren, Brenden, Hannah, and Paxton Jostes, Reese and Matthew Oldfield all of Farmington; two brothers, Wayne (Barbara) Oldfield and Verne (Carolyn) Oldfield both of Farmington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents.
Lyle was a logistics coordinator at Leander Construction Inc. in Canton, farmer, and an avid sports fan. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge, Peoria County Farm Bureau, and Bald Bluff Antique Tractor Association. He also loved his family and friends.

Canton – Martha A. Davidson, 71, of Canton, passed away at 4:52 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Graham Hospital E.R. She was born on March 31, 1946 in Cuba to Thomas and Wilma (Irwin) Ault. She married Charles Davidson on August 16, 1985 in Camdenton, MO. He preceded her in death in 2012
Surviving are three children, Tom DeMott, Amy Montgomery (Mark) Lasswell, and Julie (Chad) Hinderliter; three step-children, Jim Davidson, Terry Davidson, and Mike (Angie) Davidson; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew who she helped raise, Beth Elizabeth Haines and Mark Ault; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friend, Jim Sharpe, and beloved dog Milo.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jerry DeMott, one step-son, Charles “Squeak” Davidson; one grandson, Jonathon Randall; one brother, Robert Ault; and one sister, Carole Burton.
Martha was happy to be a housewife. She enjoyed painting with her sister, laughing, and being silly. Martha also cooked nothing short of an army.

Cody Michael Krulac
Canton – Cody Michael Krulac, 29, of Canton, passed away peacefully at 9:50 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. He was born on July 20, 1988 in Peoria to Mike and Janet (Wertman) Krulac.
Cody is survived by and dearly loved by his parents; brother, Zack; sister-in-law, Ashley; niece, Colette; nephew, Lincoln Cody; grandparents, John and Alma Lee Wertman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loyal friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fizzle and Doris Krulac.
Cody grew up in Canton, IL loving his trips to the family farm with his dad and Papa John. He remained a constant presence there until he graduated as valedictorian from Canton High School in 2007 and moved to Urbana-Champaign to attend the University of Illinois where he made lifelong friends at the 606. He graduated from U of I with a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 2012 and took a position as a test engineer with Case New Holland out of Iowa. He was a member of First Christian Church in Canton, IL.
When diagnosed with brain cancer in 2009, Cody was determined not to be slowed down. He returned to the physical labor of the family farm in 2013 in order to be closer to family, but also to return to the career he loved. Back in Canton, Cody humbly enjoyed the last years of his life hanging out with the guys, surrounding himself with happiness, and charming everyone he knew with his orneriness and smile.
Cody’s endless love for his family and friends, his bravery in the face of a terminal illness, and his eternal optimism toward life will always remain with those who knew and loved him. Cody will now and forever be happy, young, and most importantly at peace.

Canton- Wilma E. Little, 83, of Canton, passed away at 8:10 PM Wednesday November 29, 2017 at Graham Hospital Extended Care.
She was born May 2, 1930 at Canton, the daughter of Lee and Letha Mae (Henderson) Little. Survivors include two sisters, Maxine Ford of Smithfield, and Dorothy Burnett of Canton, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one infant brother.
Wilma worked at FCRC before retiring.

Farmington - Donald M. Dean, 89, of Farmington, formerly of Elmwood, passed away at 4:30 p.m., on November 27, 2017, at Farmington Courtyard Estates.
He was born on September 26, 1928, in Millbrook Township, in Peoria County, to Terry and Mary (McRill) Dean. He married Carolyn Morgan on May 17, 1952, at the Farmington Methodist Church. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Carol (John Allen) Ortery of Galesburg, Valorie (Elliott) Mohler of Las Cruces, New Mexico; three grandchildren, David, Allison, and Stevan; and four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Robert, Jayson, and Blake.
He is preceded in death by three brothers, Terry "Eldon" Jr., James, and Victor; and one sister, Dorothy.
Don served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He began his career as a Printer's Devil, at the age of 14, working for the Elmwood Gazette. He ended his career working as a Graphic Artist and Printer at the Illinois State Baptist Association.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be at 1:30 p.m., on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at the Elmwood United Methodist Church.

Marjorie Baker, age 96 of Macomb, IL, formerly of Vermont, IL, passed away at 12:45 pm Thursday, November 23, 2017 at her home in Macomb. She was born on July 20, 1921 in Ipava, IL, the daughter of Elzie L. and Lula Belle (Jones) Parr. Marjorie married Willis E. "Bill" Baker on July 27, 1940 in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1995.
Marjorie was also preceded in death by her brother, Rodney Parr.
Surviving are four daughters, Patricia (and Alan) Hughes of Astoria, IL, Leticia (and Dennis) Farr of Ipava, IL, Rita (and David) Cassel of Astoria, IL, and Ketra (and Jon) Branson of Ipava, IL, three sons, Gael (and Carmella Bundy) Baker of Quincy, IL, Bill (and Jill) Baker of Canton, IL, and John Baker of Galesburg, IL, 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and her nephew Scott (and Susie) Parr of Vermont, IL.
Marjorie was a member of the Vermont United Methodist Church and the Vermont American Legion Auxiliary.

William "Bill" Theyse
Dunfermline - William “Bill” Theyse, 84, of Dunfermline, passed away Sunday November 26, 2017 at Graham Hospital in Cantn
He was born on October 10, 1933 in Pittsburg, Kansas to August and Martha (Reed) Theyse.
He married Carol (Grzanich) at St. Michaels Catholic Church in St. David by Monsignor Robert Oconner on October 15, 1960.
Surviving is his son Curtis Theyse, of Dunfermline.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife and one brother Jim Theyse.
Bill retired from International Harvester in Canton, he was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in St. David, he was a village trustee in Dunfermiline for many years and was a volunteer for 38 years of the Dunfermline Chicken Fry. Bill was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
Funeral services will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church in St. David with Father Daniel Ebker officiating on Monday December 4, 2017 at 10 am, visitation will be held on Sunday December 3, 2017 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton from 5 pm until 7 pm a rosary service will be held Sunday following the visitation at 7pm.
Burial with military honors will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Canton.

Canton – Charles Ryan Dayton Montgomery, 14, of Canton, passed away at 7:08 Pm on Saturday, November 25, 2017 in Cuba, IL. He was born on May 10, 2003 in Indianapolis, IN to Christina Montgomery and Bryant Williams. They survive.

Charles went to Canton Ingersoll Middle School. He was a member of the Canton JFL and wrestling club. Charles was of the Christian faith. He loved to play basketball, listen to all types of music, technology, and most of all loved to make people laugh. Charles will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Dylan worked at Mid Century and Garlish Farms. He was a senior at Spoon River Valley. Dylan loved working with his grandpa at Ferretti Trucking and he also loved farming.

Cuba – Tracy A. Overholt, 49, of Cuba, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at her residence. She was born on September 20, 1968 in Pekin to Richard W. and Lillie (Willsie) Overholt. They survive.
Also surviving are her siblings, Barb (Joe) James of Mapleton, Richard V. Overholt of Canton, and Laura (Jeff) Buchman of Canton; nieces and nephews, Kyle James, Ashley Buchman, and Kelly (Nick) Verardo, their children, Aubree, Brayden, and Caleb Verardo; and her fur babies, Mallie and Gracie. All of whom she loved as if they were her own.
She graduated from Canton High School in 1986, Spoon River College, and Western Illinois University. Tracy was employed as a Corrections Officer by Illinois Correctional Center for 28 years, where she considered her co-workers her second family. She was a member of AFSCME Local 3585.
Family and friends meant the world to Tracy, she had a heart of gold with a one in a million personality, which included the most beautiful, sometimes warped, sense of humor. Her infectious smile, her presence and her laugh would light up the room. With Tracy, there was never a dull moment. Once you met Tracy, you could never forget her.

She is survived by her son Ron (Lauren) Reinholtz of Bountiful, UT and daughters Tena Nestler of Chatham, IL and Lori Sue (Mark) Juliot of Naperville, IL; 4 grandchildren: Colton Reinholtz of Gunnison, CO, Nathanael Juliot of Naperville, IL, Sarah Nestler of Chatham, IL, Andrew Juliot of Naperville, IL and her beloved furry grandbabies. Lue graduated from Canton High School in 1954. She was proud to be a long-term Election Judge. She served many years as the Office Manager of Reinholtz Flying Service and enjoyed working with her friends at The Shoe Tree. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton and attended Alleluia! Lutheran Church in Naperville.
A die-hard Cardinals fan and avid Skip-Bo player, she enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling to visit her friends in FL. She liked to make blankets, play games and enjoyed coloring.

John W. "Bill" Winston
John W. "Bill" Winston, age 79 of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 11:55 am on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Roseville Rehab and Nursing Center in Roseville, IL. He was born on December 16, 1937 in Schuyler Co., IL, the son of Edward L. and Dorothy A. (Workman) Winston. He married Sondra M. Bollinger on November 17, 1956 in Astoria, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his son, John (and Carol) Winston of Monmouth, his daughter Jennifer Winston of Monmouth, three grandsons, Daniel, Derek, and Joshua Winston, his sister Beverly Burgard of Rushville, IL and his brother Jack (and Betty) Winston of Rushville, IL.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother Junior Winston.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1958 to 1962 in the 71st Artillery Division with a rank of SP5.
He worked as a Bookkeeper and Tax Preparer for over 44 years in Beardstown, IL, retiring in 2013. He also farmed in Schuyler County for 20 years.
Bill coached the Browning Sprigs Minor League baseball team and coached Little League teams in Rushville. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was a member of the Schuyler County School Board and was treasurer of several Drainage Districts in Cass and Schuyler counties.
He loved collecting toy tractors and airplanes and his office in Beardstown was decorated with military uniforms and hats he had collected.
Bill started early in teaching his grandsons the Golden Rule. He and Sondra were longtime Rushville and Beardstown residents, eventually moving to Monmouth in 2015.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 19th at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. The Beardstown VFW Post #1239 will officiate with full military rites accorded. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials may be given to OSF Hospice or the Beardstown VFW Post #1239.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.

Farmington – Peggy F. VanFossen, 92, of Farmington, passed away at 1:50 PM on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. She was born on January 30, 1925 in Farmington to Fred and Mabel (Tarr) Riccioni.
Surviving are two nieces and two nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Fred Woods, three brothers, and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 11:15 AM on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Oakridge Cemetery in Farmington, IL. Rev. Kevin VanTine will officiate.
