Decatur-Margaret A. Andersen, 82, of Decatur formerly of Gloucester, MA, passed away at 10:35 pm Friday, February 26, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center in Decatur, IL. She was born on May 5, 1933 in Gloucester, MA. to James T. and Margaret A. (Melanson) O’maley. Margaret married Donald L. Sliffy on December 27, 1956. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2015. Also preceding her in death were her parents, daughter Sharon A. (Longo) Anderton, and stepson Robert Anderson. Surviving are 2 children; Mary Ellen (Sliffy) Carmack of Canton, and James D. Sliffy of Decatur, 7 grandchildren; Sarah Carmack of Canton, Brian (Sheila) Sliffy of Woodstock, Jennifer Sliffy of Lena, Donald Sliffy of Decatur, and James, William, and Robert Anderton of Gloucester, MA, great-grandson of Evan James Sliffy of Woodstock, brother Thomas (Barbara) O’maley of Rockport, MA, and stepdaughter Carol (Peter) Evans of Austria.
Cremations rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery in Gloucester, MA. at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
