Canton – Muriel “Jody” Shockency,
53, of Canton died at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016, in Canton.
She was born May 4, 1962, in Canton,
to Charles H. and Joyce A. (Kinzer) Bowton.
She married Charles A. Shockency on August 26, 1982, in Canton. He survives.
Also surviving is her mother, of
Canton, three daughters, Rebecca Bowton-Clark, Tiffany (Tiffany) Lippert, and
Savanna (Justin) Gourley, all of Canton; three brothers, Tim (Tammy) Bowton of
Canton, Marty (Lisa) Bowton of Canton; and Aaron (Mary) Bowton of Hawaii; and
six grandchildren, Kelsey Clark, Andrew Clark, Landon Shockency, Summer Clark,
Josslyn Shockency, and Haze Gourley-Shockency.
She was preceded in death by her
father.
With her husband, Jody was
part-owner of Shockency Fire Equipment, serving Illinois and Iowa. She enjoyed shopping and traveling to flea
markets, riding motorcycles, camping, and spending time with her
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at
10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in
Canton. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m.
on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Foster Cemetery in rural Fairview.
Memorials may be made to the
First Baptist Church Food Bank.
