Marie F. Bayles

Marie F. Bayles, 88, resident of Normal, IL, for almost 70 years, passed away at 9:24 p.m., on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Farmington Village Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Marie was born May 20, 1937, on Staten Island, New York City, New York. She married Elmer Earl Bayles, of Carlock, IL, while he was stationed in the New York City area, on June 2, 1956, at St. Mary’s of Rosebank Roman Catholic Church, in Staten Island, New York City. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2005.

Marie is survived by four children, Jeannie (Kenneth) Babin of DeLand, FL, Mark (Michael) Bayles of Portland, OR, Rebecca (Stephen) Wallace of Mount Juliet, TN, and Angela (Thomas) Tracy of Elmwood, IL; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jonathan, Stephanie (Dan), Jacqueline (Chris), Jessica, Caitlyn (Ty), and Patrick; five great-grandsons, Tyson, Jace, Denver, Shay, and Ryman; and one brother, Frederick (Ursula) Scheuter of Largo, FL.

She is also preceded in death by one grandson, James Babin.

Marie graduated from New Dorp High School in Staten Island, NYC, in 1954. She was a member of St. Jospeh’s Roman Catholic Church in Staten Island. She was a Girl Scout leader for over 10 years, a Junior leader for Centrillo Council Girl Scouts, and was also a Cadette Leader, Troop Organizer, and Publicity Director.

Marie was a Bookkeeper for Bankers Trust in New York City and then an Accountant Clerk for IAA, General Telephone, and State Farm in Bloomington, IL. She was also a Customer Service Representative for American Greetings.

Marie enjoyed volunteering for American Heart Society and American Cancer Society. She was also an avid genealogist since 1956 tracing both her husband’s and her family’s trees back to Jamestown as well as researching family trees for family and friends.

Marie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Carl S. Martin in Normal. She was also a member of Friends of Normal Library, Woodford County Historical Society, and McLean County Historical Society.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Denman Cemetery in Carlock, White Oak Township, in McLean County.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois in Normal, IL.
