Roger A. Strode

Roger A. Strode. 60, of Canton, passed away on September 26, 2025 at Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville, AR. He was born on April 4, 1965 in Hot Springs, AR. to David A. and Mary D. (Jackson) Strode. Roger married Donna Grant on November 17, 1990 in Canton. She survives along with four children; David (Jake) Bertsche-Nell of Champaign, James (Andrea) Strode of Canton, Brandon (Stephanie) Strode of Cabot, AR and Brittany Strode of Canton, two sisters; Elizabeth A. Strode of Bushnell and Dee A. Strode of Canton, two grandchildren; Quentin Strode and Harrison Strode, niece Kayla Potzmann and nephew Allen Wolfe.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and Shadow his fur baby.

He was a member of the Farmington Moose Lodge.

Robert Eugene Clauson

Robert (Bob) Eugene Clauson, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 7, 1944, to Henry and Marie (Handshoe) Clauson, Bob was a lifelong resident of the Glasford, Illinois area. A hardworking entrepreneur, he owned and operated multiple businesses over the years, including Clauson Blacktopping and Clauson Trucking. From a young age, Bob built a legacy rooted in grit, perseverance, and generosity.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Nanette Marie (Robbins) Clauson, and his children: Mike Flamingo, Ron (Emily) Clauson, Angelo (Denetta) Flamingo, Robyn (Eddie) Heath, and Jon (Jamey) Clauson. He was a proud grandfather to Steven Clauson, Samantha (Raymond) Sherfy, Katie (Jon) Free, Eli, Peyton, and Ashlynn Flamingo, Grainger and Zane Hite, Jonathan (Amanda) Clauson, Josiah (Aldana) Clauson, Sophia (Jacob) Smith, Liam, Benjamin, and Charlie Clauson, along with step-grandchildren Abby and Jonathan, and ten cherished great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters Krista Shaw and Rhonda Neuman, and brothers Joe and Jody Chiatello. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald Clauson, and his son Antony "Tony" Flamingo.

A proud veteran, Bob served in an Army Airborne Unit in Vietnam from 1966-67. His fearless spirit defined him both in service and in life. An avid stock car racer, Bob's racing accomplishments included setting fast times that held for years and building - from the tires to the roof- the very car in which he won a state championship.

He was a man of many talents who never shied away from hard work or new challenges - whether it was cutting pulpwood, farming, construction, house-flipping, or trucking. Starting his first business at age sixteen, Bob built a life that touched countless others. He was known not only for his determination and skill but for his kind heart, generous nature, and a signature sense of humor that often came with a teasing smile.

A funeral service will be held on Friday October 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services.

Burial with Military Honor’s will be held immediately following the services at Shield’s Chapel Cemetery.

James R. Thrasher

James R. Thrasher, 80, of Lewistown, passed away at 3:00 AM on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba, IL. He was born on March 2, 1945, to Shelby Dale and Mildred (Vaughn) Thrasher.


He is survived by three children, Debra (Brenda Baxter) Jones of Brimfield, Sandi (Matt) Kline of Lewistown, and James M. Thrasher of Lewistown; seven grandchildren, Scott (Anna) Duffield, Tony Beaird, Ryan (Lora) Colglazier, Faith Thompson, Joy Thompson, Charles (Nikki) Thrasher, and Jessalyn Kline; and 16 great-grandchildren.


He is preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Stephanie Duffield; and one sister, Patsy Ginger.


James worked and retired from International Harvester after 33 years. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He also loved fishing.

Judith “Judy” Ann Hilst

Judith “Judy” Ann Hilst, 79, of Canton, passed away at 11:47 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Graham Hospital. She was born on June 24, 1946 in Springfield to Frank and Annie (Bentley) Chadwick. She married Keith Hilst and he preceded her in death.

Judy is survived by her children, Chris (Millie) Rose of Chatham, Tawni (Cooper) Johnson of Clarksville, Missouri, and Stormie (Anthony) DeJaynes of Springfield; grandchildren, Risty Johnson, Kimberlea (Joe) Scott, Allison (Mason) Kling, and Adam Rose; great-grandchildren, Drake Johnson, Benjamin Kling, and Rylan Scott; siblings, William “Bill” (Ada) Reed and Sheila (Mike) McGee; and sister-in-law, Patricia “Pat” Chadwick. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Lloyd Chadwick.
Judy worked as a nurse in several nursing homes over the years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Daughters of the Confederacy. She enjoyed playing cards and studying genealogy.
Cremation rites have been accorded and private burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.

Delbert V. Barnett

Delbert V. Barnett, 95, of Canton, passed away, Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Clayberg in Cuba.

He was born in Arkansas City, Kansas, on January 23, 1930, to Charles “Pete” and Ollie “Bobbi” (Howell) Barnett. They preceded him in death as well as two brothers, Jay and Tracey Barnett.

Delbert married Naomi (Dalzell) Barnett on April 3, 1956, in Los Angeles California. They shared 61 years of marriage before she passed away on December 22, 2017.

Delbert is survived by his daughter Karen (Kevin) Klinedinst of Lewistown.

He is a Veteran of the United States Army. He served during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until 1953. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University.

Delbert owned and operated Jayhawk Restaurant in Weiser Idaho for many years. He retired in 1995 as a chef for the workers on oil rigs in Alaska. He previously attended First Baptist Church in Canton, and enjoyed tending to his garden.

A graveside service with Military Honor’s will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Food Pantry.

Donald Max Hanawalt

Donald M. Hanawalt, 85 of Canton, IL passed away Sunday September 21, 2025. He was born in Rock Island, Illinois to the late George C. Hanawalt and Emily (Knopfmeier) Desrochers.

Donald enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17, and fondly remembered his time in service aboard the USS Caliente (Fleet Oiler) and the opportunities it allowed him to travel the world. Shortly after his return from service, he met and married the love of his life, Phyllis (Breuer) Hanawalt and was married on September 1, 1962.

Throughout his life, Donald perfected skills in many trades including coal mining, construction, truck driving, auto mechanics, machine/building maintenance and fish and game guidance. He retired from the Peoria Journal Star as a maintenance worker, and then joined his wife at Freeman Coal Mine as a hunting and fishing guide to many guests and acquaintances. He will always be remembered as a hard worker, a dedicated and loving husband and father, and a great friend to many.

Donald enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, hunting, being outdoors, all competitive sports, and spending time with his family and his best friends Rick (Carol) Mendenhall. He loved all animals both his pets and wildlife, and spent many mornings watching the sunrise and admiring all the animals during his walks through Big Creek Park.

He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Phyllis Hanawalt, son Mark (Shirlene)Hanawalt of Canton, daughter Carie Hanawalt of Normal, IL, Sister Joyce (Ray) Constable of Colorado, Brother in Law Fred (Laurie) Allen of Quincy, IL, Brother in Law Ted (Mary Kay) Allen of Canton, MO, many nieces, nephews, friends and his two “doggies” Dolly and Emma.

He is preceded in death by his Father George, Mother Emily, Step-mother Eunice Hanawalt, sister, Karolee Cooperrider, brother Ellis Hanawalt, brother Dr. Virgil Hockgraver, brother Bill Hanawalt, brother Frank Hanawalt, Mother in Law Dorothy Allen, Brother in Law Junior Breuer, & Sister in law Sally Vonburg.

Cremation rites will be accorded with Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton; A private burial of his ashes will take place at Paloma Cemetery in Paloma, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.

Vicki Lynn Jones Pacho

Vicki Lynn Jones Pacho, 63, of Cuba, passed away, Monday, September 22, 2025, at Carle Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

She was born on March 27, 1962, in Macomb, to Robert Max and Anna Belle (Stotler) Jones. They survive.

Vicki is survived by her husband Gerard E. Pacho, they shared 38 years together.

Also surviving are three children, VicToria A.M. Pacho Jones, VicTisha L.N. (Hannah) Mesick, and Gerard C. (Emily) Pacho, and two grandchildren, Marianna S.K. Price, and Xenovia I. Pacho.

Vicki was also blessed with the opportunity to be a mother figure to many other children throughout her life.

Vicki was a beautician for many years; she worked for various salons around the area and mostly out of her home salon doing family and friends.

Vicki never missed a yard sale; she enjoyed thrifting and saving anyway she could. She had the gift of a green thumb; housing over a hundred plants in her home. She was able to revive countless plants for friends and neighbors throughout the years. She also loved animals of all kind, always trying to save as many as possible.

Jared Williams

Jared L. Williams, better known by his friends as “J.Willy” and by his family as “Jare Bear” 39, of Canton passed away Monday, September 22, 2025 in Chicago Illinois. He was born on July 29th,1986 in Canton to Terry Williams and Debra (Burrows) Williams.

Jared is survived by his 2 brothers Jake and Travis Williams of Canton, 1 niece Tinleigh of St. Charles, 1 nephew Trenten of Canton. Also surviving are his Aunt Lori Rumler of Canton, and cousins Jess (Wesley) Kimbrough and family of Canton, Joey (Sarah) Rumler and family of Pekin, Uncle and Aunt Shawn and Jen Harkness of Huntington IN and cousins Andy (Shelby) Harkness and family, Shelby (Jacob) Hansen and family and Brady all of Indiana and Charity (Tovi) Beoletto and family of Farmington and a great Aunt Rosalee Doherty of California. Also surviving Jared is his maternal grandmother Elaine Little of Canton, Aunt Rhonda Starcevich of Canton, along with cousins John (Jackie) Starcevich and family, Kate Smith and family, all of Canton, Nick Starcevich and family of Pekin and Uncle Chuck Burrows of St. David.

Jared was preceded in death by his mother Debra (Burrows) Williams, paternal grandparents Richard and Coralie Harkness and maternal grandfather Charlie Burrows along with uncles Harry Rumler, Rick Starcevich, Lanny Williams and Danny Williams.

Those who knew Jared knew he had a love for hats, all things music and literature, history, musical instruments, and especially professional wrestling. As a small child, Jared could often be found sitting on top of tables, telling all the adults NO, playing as far away from home where nobody could find him but was always sure to find his way home. He was definitely the most random, free and easy spirited kid on the block.

Cremation has been accorded and a public graveside service will be held at a later date.

Reta Kirkpatrick

Reta Kirkpatrick, 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born on October 11, 1937 in Canton to Howard and Elva (Sprague) Rumler.

She married Robert Kirkpatrick on September 29, 1955 in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2018.

Surviving are three children, Tom (Teresa) Kirkpatrick of Canton, Stacey Cozad of Lewistown, Jennie (Danny) Steach of Canton, Grandchildren, Kristin (Josh) Wilcoxen, Zane Kirkpatrick, Tommy (Chelsie) Bohler, Mallory (Tyler Ewalt) Steach, Robert Cozad, great grandchildren, Grace Miller, Austin Wilcoxen, Maebry Ewalt, Lucy Bohler and Luca Bohler, and a special niece, Cindy Stockov.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Willis, Howard Jr, Larry, Harry, Rollin, Arlo and Robert Rumler and sisters, Betty Stouffer and her twin Leta Stufflebeam.

Reta enjoyed her lottery scratch off tickets and was the Queen of telling jokes. “I’ll have the soup”

Cremation rites have been accorded per her wishes and a private burial of the ashes will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery.

Larry Leon Horner

Larry Leon Horner, 80, of Summum, IL, went to his eternal resting place at 11:47 am on Monday, September 22, 2025, at his home. He was born the son of Lloyd “Ping” and Dorothy (Engle) Horner, on July 18, 1945, at their home in Marbletown, IL. On January 30, 1967, Larry married Sandra Duckwiler in Summum, whom he had two daughters with. He later married Gloria (Clanin) Parker on December 23, 1994, also in Summum.

Larry joined the U. S. Navy at the age of 17 & proudly served his country for 6 years. During his 4 years of active duty (1962-1966), he was stationed at Treasure Island, San Francisco, CA & was also aboard the USS Mattaponi (AO-41). In 1966, he transferred to the Reserves and was stationed in Bainbridge, MD, until he was Honorably Discharged in 1968, with 2 Medals: National Defense Service Medal & Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam).

After the Service, he worked at Colbert’s Gas Station & IDOT, until he found his full-time career at Caterpillar (Building KK) in East Peoria, where he retired after 31 years. After retiring from CAT, he drove a semi for L&N Industries for 15 years.

Larry was an avid music lover of all genres, and he was quite the dancer. He enjoyed watching TV, especially the Price is Right & the Wheel of Fortune, but has also recently become a fan of watching NFL. He also enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers, cars & pretty much anything with an engine. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cheering them on at their sporting events.

Larry was a member of the Astoria American Legion Post #25, and a member of the Summum Christian Church. Years ago, he was a volunteer on the Summum Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; three daughters, Angela (and the late Bobby) Blickenstaff, Tammy (and Scott) Kinkead, and Kisha (and Jeremy Taylor) Stambaugh; seven grandchildren, Klynton Bollinger, Aubri (and Blake) Scheland, Destini Bollinger, Mason (and Tristan) Blickenstaff, Elli Taylor, Skye Stambaugh, and Tucker Stambaugh; eight great-grandchildren, Oscar Jones, Jeffrey Bollinger, Parker Stewart, Huntlee Bollinger, Londyn Hillyer, Adalynn Scheland, Cohen Blickenstaff, and Jeramy Hillyer; three sisters, Janice Snowden, Sandra Morse and Martha Gray; and two brothers, Richard (and Ann) Horner and Gary (and Sharla) Horner.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lloyd E. Horner and Ralph Horner; and son-in-law, Bobby Blickenstaff.

Visitation will be held 10 am-12 pm, with Funeral Services immediately following, on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Bob Spencer will officiate. Interment will be in the Summum Cemetery.

Donald C. Anderson Jr.

Donald C. Anderson Jr., 69 of Canton, passed away, Sunday, September 21, 2025, at his home in Canton.

He was born in Canton, to Donald C. Anderson Sr., and Geraldine Ann (Santos) Anderson. They preceded him in death as well as one sister, Phyllis Ann Garvey.

Doni married Teresa L. (Edwards) Anderson, on January 25, 1975 at South Park United Methodist Church in Canton. She preceded him in death on August 31, 2022.

He is survived by three children, Erin (Scott) Slack, Jason (Sarah) Anderson, and Cari (Ken) Miller, four grandchildren, Logan (Tori Albanito) Anderson, Casey Miller, Nolan Anderson, and Chloe Miller, one sister Bonnie (Dave) Powell, and a host of extended family members.

Doni worked at Mitsubishi in Bloomington. He started when the factory opened and retired at its closing. He was dedicated to providing for his family with his hard work throughout the years. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors in his garden. Doni enjoyed traveling with his wife Teresa, and most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
