Charles R. Ciaccio

Charles R. Ciaccio, 86, of Elmwood, passed away at 11:46 a.m., on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born September 20, 1938, in Peoria, IL, to Vito and Mary (Craven) Ciaccio. Charles married Pamela Schaer on October 31, 1999, at the Knights of Columbus in Peoria. She survives.

Charles is also survived by six children, Tony (Jennifer) Ciaccio of Apex, NC, Galynne (Mark) Riggenbach of Iola, WI, Stacy (Chris) Winters of Weatherford, Texas, Jennifer (William) Sparks of Thailand, Jason Horn of Peoria, and Jamie (Lisa Anderson) Horn of Gilson; and fourteen grandchildren, Kristina, Nicholas, AJ, and Drew Ciaccio, Karl, Nate, and Whitney Kieser, and Logan Goodwill, Tiffany McConnell and Brittany Melo, Vienna Sparks, Ethan and Anna Horn, and Derek Anderson.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Leonard Ciaccio and Vito Ciaccio, Jr.

Charles graduated from Manual High School in 1956. He began his Navy career in 1958 in Norfolk, VA. Charles then served as a Corpsman at a Navy hospital in New Port, RI, where he attained the rank Third Class Petty Officer by 1962.

Charles was a well-respected bartender and bar and restaurant owner in Peoria for over 35 years. Some of these businesses included Starlite Club, Ciaccio’s Steakhouse, Jumer’s Castle Lodge, Norwood Tap, and Champs West.

Charles loved music, dancing, fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending time with his family. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elmwood. To celebrate Charles’s life, food and fellowship will be held following the services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice, B.Y.E. Ambulance, and T.A.P.S.
