Gary W. Bahl, 84, of Havana, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Mason District Hospital in Havana. He was born on March 5, 1940, the son of Raymond and Juanita (Gosnell) Bahl. He married his wife, Diane Bahl, on September 1, 1985. She survives, along with his daughters, Lisa (Mike) Hamor, Lorie (Alan) Monroe, and Leann (Rick) Bonnett; son, Gary Bahl, Jr.; step-son, Sean (Cara) O’Brien; thirteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Marilyn (Ken) Stone; brother, Jerry Bahl; and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Shawgo.Gary was a barber for 46 years. He was also well-known as a commercial fisherman and could be found often on the Illinois River or at Emiquon trying to catch his next big boat load of fish.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Rev. Carol Stufflebeam will officiate.
