Verlus "Lucky" L. Fowler, 90, of Peoria, passed away at 1:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 22, 2021, in rural Brimfield.
He was born on February 16, 1931, in Parthenon, AR, to Henry and Zelphia (Harris) Fowler.
He married Dorothy Stahl in 1972, in Peoria, IL. She survives.
Verlus is also survived by four children, Verla (Mike) McLemore of Peoria, Artie Fowler of Peoria, Jeff Waddle of Peoria, and Tonya (Ryan) Crawford of Brimfield; one step-daughter, Bobbie Buskirk of Bartonville; raised nephew, Dwight May of Peoria; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joe Fowler, Shannon Roger Fowler, and Wonder Fowler; and two sisters, Eva Mae Smith and Arden Faye Fowler.
Verlus was a Pressman at Fleming & Potter in Peoria where he retired from after 31 years. He was very hardworking and stayed busy taking care of rental properties. His motto was always, "Tell it like it is, and I love everybody." He regularly attended Glad Tidings in East Peoria. One of his favorite hymns was "Will the Circle Be Unbroken".
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
