Debbie Sue Hamm, 67, of St. David, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021, at her home in St. David.
She was born on December 15, 1953, to Thorton and Mary (Jones) Lille. They preceded her in death along with two brothers, Rick and Allen Lillie and two sisters Gloria Wheeler and Judy Chaney.
Debbie is survived by her husband Glen Hamm, whom she married on June 17, 1985 at Shield's Chapel Methodist Church in Canton.
Also surviving are two children, Dale (Amy) Hamm of Marquette Heights, and Mary Beth (Michelle) Hamm of Vermont, two sisters, Cindy (Larry) Wirebaugh of Canton and Sandy Lillie of Canton, one sister in law Margo Lille of Canton, seven grandchildren, Jesse, Joey, Jacque, Jada, Sami, Logan and Brayden and three great grandchildren, Everette, Mary and Titus. And several nieces and nephews.
Debbie first worked at International harvester as a certified welder, and later for DCFS, Fulton Mason Women's Crisis Center, and was a Secretary at Spoon River College and most recent she worked at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield as the Manuscript Documentarian for President Lincoln's documents. Debbie volunteered her time for many organizations including, St. David Optimist Club, Bridgeway, FCRC. She decorated many Angel Trees during Christmas time. Debbie and Glen enjoyed being Foster Parents for many years. She enjoyed bingo at the St. David Optimist Club. Most if all Debbie loved her children and her grandchildren and all the time, she was able to spend with them.
A Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday March 31, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Cremation rites have been accorded and a burial of her ashes will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Hamm family for a fund to be created in Debbie's honor.
