Canton- Richard “Dick” Donovan Stremmel, 84, of Canton went
home to be with his Lord and Savior at 9:15 pm on Friday, December 14 at OSF
St. Francis Medical
Center in Peoria.
Richard was born in Ipava,
IL on December 29, 1933 , the son of Sheldon
R. and Ruby M. (Webb) Stremmel. They preceded him in death. He married Billie
(Pollard) Schumacher in 1998. She survives.
Surviving him are his children, Debbie (George) Coutré of
Colchester; David (Jennifer) Stremmel of Canton; Timothy (Angela) of Anniston,
AL; Stephen (Chris) Stremmel of Canton; Rebecca (Scott) McNeil of Normal;
Virgil (Lisa) Crane of Pontiac; Michael (Darla) Crane of Peru and Linda Shepard
of Toluca. He is also survived by his sister Norma (late Charles “Dick”) Brown of
Carthage and brothers Dennis (Phyllis) Stremmel and Roger, both of Canton.
He was preceded in death by daughters Vicki Suzette Gardner,
Vickie LeAnn Foster and granddaughter Amber Foster.
Richard graduated from Farmington High school
as Valedictorian. He was an avid collector and worked hard to support his
family as a welder and then for 35 years as a Dr. of Broken TV’s. He
regularly attended Moody Founder’s Week and took Moody classes online. Aside from loving his Lord and his wife Billie,
he cherished his children, grandchildren, nieces & nephews, his church
family, friends and his dogs Buddy and Missy.
Services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:30 am at the Evangelical Free
Church at 1300 E Chestnut St
in Canton,
where visitation will be held prior to the service at 9:00 am .
Entombment will immediately follow at White Chapel Memory
Gardens Mausoleum in Canton.
Memorial may be made to the Evangelical Free Church of Canton or to the Fulton
County Humane Society.
