Ruth Maxine Peterson, 92, of Canton passed away 10:43 PM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on December 15, 1922 in Bushnell to Jay and Johanna (Nagel) Cheek. Ruth Maxine married Glenn E. Peterson on September 21, 1946 in Bushnell. He preceded in her in death on November 11, 1999. Also preceding in death were her parents, a son John Peterson, and a sister Marion Carlson. Surviving are 2 children; Richard A. (Mary Beth) Peterson of Rock Island, and Carol (John) Harmon of Canton, 3 grandchildren; Jason Peterson and Scott (Tosha) Peterson both of Rock Island, and Amy (Jesse) Norman of Seoul, South Korea, 2 great grandchildren; Koby Peterson and Austin Peterson, and a brother Robert Cheek of Bloomington.
Ruth Maxine worked as a beauty operator retiring in September 1945. She was of the Methodist faith.
Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, July 1 at the Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton with the Rev. Kelly Ingersoll and Rev. Nina Nestlerode officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. Memorials can be made to Renaissance Care Center in Canton.
