Canton – Mary M. Ridenour, 79, of
Canton died at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Renaissance Care Center in
Canton.
She was born November 8, 1935, in
Canton to Joseph and Gladys (Turl) Herring.
She married Donald Ray on September 28, 1957 in Canton. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2012.
She is survived by three
children, David (Darla) Ridenour of Havana, Denise K. (Chuck) Jarvis of Canton,
and Dennis Ridenour of Loveland, CO; one sister-in-law, Janice Herring; five
grandchildren, Lindsey (Josh) Larson, Keith Carmack, Andrew (Erin) Ridenour,
Sara Ridenour, and Bailee Ridenour; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents and one brother, Gene Herring.
Mary was a 2nd grade
teacher in Hanna City for 30 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of the Illinois Retired
Teachers Association and the Canton American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30
p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where
visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Cremation rites will be accorded following
services, with burial of ashes at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton at a
later date.
Memorials may be made to the
Foundation for Prader-Willi Research (FPWR), in honor of her great-grandson,
Elliot Larson.
