Ray “Chicken” T. Howell
Lewistown- Ray “Chicken” T. Howell, 77, of rural Lewistown passed away at 4:35 PM Tuesday June 9, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born October 29, 1937 at Bath, the son of Henry and Gladys (Mason) Howell. He married Nancy L. Burgess on October 30, 1958 at Lewistown. She died December 23, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, four sisters, and one great grandchild. Surviving are four daughters, Cathy (Richard) Ruark, of Canton, Laura (Leonard Vaughn) Howell of Ipava, Angie (Kevin) Grigsby and Crystal (Carl) Parrish both of rural Lewistown, two sisters, Florence Burgett formerly of Havana, and Betty Gilmore of Havana, eleven grandchildren, one step grandchild, six great grandchildren, and one step great grandchild.
Ray had worked for Freeman United Coal Company and later at Lewistown Ag. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was of Methodist faith. Ray enjoyed fishing.
A graveside service will be held at 3:15 PM Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Reverend Danie deBeer officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 until 3 PM Saturday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. To send online condolences visit www.henrylange.com.
