Wilma F. Chappel

Wilma F. Chappel, 90, of Canton, passed away at Red Oak Estates, in Canton, at 4:52 a.m., on Friday, April 11, 2025. She was born April 10, 1935, in Mason County, Illinois, to Howard and Elvira (Reed) Gilmore. She married Harold Chappel on July 31, 1963. He survives.

Mrs. Chappel is survived by her husband, Harold, of Canton; children: Kevin Dean Chappel, of Havana, and Wendy Wasson of Mesa, Arizona; as well as four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. One half-brother, Andy Gilmore, survives, of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim Toombs; and grandson, Russell Glen.

Mrs. Chappel was a very active and involved member of Evangelical Free Church, in Canton, where she was a member of the choir. She loved to travel across the country to see family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at her church, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery, in Havana. Rev. Drew Kleindinst will officiate.
