Donna A. Schimmelpfenning

Donna Arlene Schimmelpfenning, 89, of Manito, passed away at 12:43 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Carle Hospital in Peoria. She was born on October 25, 1935 in Mason County, Illinois to John and Ava (Peplow) Spaits. She married Max Schimmelpfenning on December 30, 1955 in Manito, and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2022.

Donna is survived by her children, Kim (Steve) Singley of Manito, Tami (Jerry) Spraggs of Manito, Troy (Jamie) Schimmelpfenning of Pekin, and Kyle (Cheryl) Schimmelpfenning of Pekin; grandchildren, Brandon, Kilah, Bray, Brijana, Max, and Kylie; and great-grandchildren, Grayson, Graham, and Tellico. Also surviving are her siblings, Delbert (Virginia) Spaits of Naperville, Illinois, Glenna Goede of Kansas City, Missouri, Joe (Linda) Spaits of Texas, Sandra (Larry) Hyatt of Pekin, and Roxana (Joe) Mann of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Eula Behrends, Marian Gavin, and William Spaits; and brother-in-law, Jerry Goede. She was also recently preceded in death by her dog, Mya, who was her shadow.
Donna was a member of Manito Community United Methodist Church. She found joy in lifting others in prayer, offering words of encouragement, and spreading God’s love through her card outreach ministry. Her kindness, faithfulness, and servant’s heart touched many lives, bringing comfort, hope, and strength to those in need.
Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no public services will be held.
