Gary L. Griffin

Gary Lee Griffin, 60, of Havana, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at St. John’s

Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. He was born on November 17, 1964, in Havana, Illinois,
to James Clarence and Carla Lee (McClenning) Griffin.
Gary is survived by his siblings Greg Griffin of Havana, Lori (Mark) Kachanuk of Peoria, Arizona, Lisa (David) Lippert of Chatham, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents, nephew Ty Kachanuk, Paternal Grandparents Clarence and Adelaide Griffin of
Havana, and Maternal grandmother Mary Alta McClenning of Santa Clara, California.
Gary was a 1983 graduate of Havana High School. He worked for many years at Griffin
Electric, Inc. in Havana, as well as Kirby Risk in Peoria, Decatur, and Springfield. Gary
also worked as a part-time EMS for the Mason District Hospital and the Havana Rural
Fire Department. He was a member of the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Illinois
for over 25 years and a long-time member and treasurer of The Alligators Club. Gary
was a founding member of the Havana Area Volunteers who sponsored the Havana
Easter Egg Hunt.  He was an avid Cardinals fan who enjoyed spending time with
friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at
Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana with Pastor Carol Stufflebeam officiating.
Memorial donations may be made in Gary’s name to the Havana Easter Egg Hunt or
the Havana Rural Fire Department. Online condolences can be left for his family
