Arthur Dean Petty, 86, of Havana, passed away at 11:12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Mason District Hospital in Havana. He was born on April 23, 1938 in Havana to Charles and Clara (Vance) Petty. He married Carol Cameron in October of 1967 in Havana, and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2021.
Arthur is survived by his son, Gary Petty of Havana; sister, Marilyn Schafer of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Barb Hedden; brothers, James, Charles, Marion, and Lyle Petty; and sisters, Lillian Bassett, Clara Belle Hall, Beulah “Boots” Haage, and Eva Flaharty.
Arthur was a member of the Havana Church of Christ. He worked for National Standard and McLean Forge and later drove a grain truck. He enjoyed farming with livestock, especially cows. He was an accomplished musician and loved singing and playing music, and was the last member of the Troubadour Band. He also enjoyed fishing, watching the Chicago Cubs, and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Havana Church of Christ, with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Pastor Bill Boyce will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
Memorial donations may be made in Arthur’s name to his family or to the American Cancer Society.
