Harvey G. Evans

Harvey G. Evans peacefully went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2022. Harvey, 83, was born in Canton IL on August 29, 1939 to Harvey and Gertrude Evans. He leaves behind his sister Diantha (Kay) Evans. Harvey married Constance (Connie) Harmon on August 30th 1958 and just recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.


Harvey loved his family dearly and leaves behind daughter, Geana Evans-Durrette, son Gregory Evans, and daughter Gala Denney - Hardin (married to Jay Hardin). Surviving are 8 grandchildren: Nicholas Evans, Kiley Evans, Bobby Carmack, Erin Carmack, April Durrette, Danielle Gonzales-Boyer, Andrew Gonzales, and Christian Miles. Also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren: Khloe Bozeman, Nora Johnston, Dane Boyer, Tyler Boyer, Alizae Gonzales, Andrew Gonzales Jr, Leo Gonzales, Cataleya Miles, and Carmella Miles.

Harvey had a very active life. At one time he was on the school board in Glasford, Illinois, a scout master, and president of the Fulton County Riding Club. He was a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, taught at the YWCA, and later had his own studio and taught self defense to many members of the community. Harvey graduated Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and was a licensed and ordained minister. He was a pastor at the Faith Fellowship Church in Glencoe, Minnesota and Trinity Fellowship in Canton, Illinois. He evangelized for several years and loved the Lord with his whole heart.

Harvey was also a dreamer and entrepreneur at heart - never afraid to chase his dreams. He was admired by his friends and family for his drive and ingenuity. He had many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles, riding horses, John Wayne movies, Breyer's ice cream, family game nights, home improvement projects, and flipped many houses over the years.
Harvey never knew a stranger. His sense of humor, charming personality, and enigmatic smile will leave a lasting impression with everyone who has had the pleasure to know and love him.
Cremation rites have been accorded with Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.
